At the movies - From the couch

I mistook that with midnight express…

…ever been to a Turkish prison???

Along with Deer Hunter one of my unfortunate childhood vhs memories

Vanishing point - 1971 ish

So I accident watched the remake a couple of months back, because it’s damn near impossible to find the OF on a streaming service.

Anyway, a guy has to deliver a car from Colorado to Cisco in California in not much time. He encounters a few obstacles, law men mostly.

Just finished watching this and really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the heads up.

I re-watched “Midnight Run” recently (it was on TV, and I love that film).

Googled the screenwriter, George Gallo, and ended up watching another of his films called “29th Street”, because someone had uploaded it on YouTube. It was decent, no regrets.

If anyone has seen any other George Gallo films, and seems to recall them being decent, just say so.

Caught up with the film “Blackberry” via Sky recently…
For many here I suspect this phone had a part to play in our history, work or play. I still have a few old ones knocking around in a shoebox out in the shed.

A time when Suits meet Geeks, ending with the sad demise of RIM. But then again it was the iPhone and smartphone tsunami that did it. A good film worthy of a look.

I’ll probably give this a look.

I remember rolling up with a blackberry and mates on flip phones taking the ■■■■ out of me. The BB was farking good though for emailing. I thought I’d never need an iPhone. I guess neither did the people at blackberry.

Inspired by David Baldacci’s novel, and the ruthlessness of people in power. President Alan Richmond believes that everything he does is beyond reproach, including an affair or two. That leads to murder and everyone around him is involved. There is only one witness, a thief named Luther Whitney. They are sure he’ll talk, but when? The Secret Service is determined to keep him quiet, but catching a thief isn’t always easy.

This was good! An oldy but a goody. 7.5/10.

I saw this just off the Champs Elysée in 1997.

Dubbed into French, or subtitles? I still remember watching a French-dubbed version of of Moonraker in Paris in the eighties. I didn’t know much French then, but the dialogue is so simple it was easy to follow. I nearly laughed out loud when Sean Connery announced, “Je m’appelle Bongd, Shemps Bongd.”

I really enjoyed the new Beverley Hills cop movie. Haven’t laughed that hard for a long time

Eddie was in top form

Serge may be the greatest side character in cinema history. Always in hysterics with his scenes

that wouldn’t be the character by the same name from the first movie, would it?

Great film. I think there might be a remake somewhere but the original is the best.

Vanishing point

Funnily enough I started watching the remake, thinking I was watching the original, made in around ‘71?. About 30 minutes in someone’s is on a brick mobile phone and I was just thinking ‘…maybe they did have them in the ‘70s…?’ then the radio DJ looked A LOT like Jason Priestly from 90210, and I was thinking ‘…well, he was clearly older in 90210, but was he THAT much older?’ then I noticed some of the cars were the wrong era which made it obvious.

Anyway. The remake was pretty decent (in comparison) Probably had the better car chases. Had some weird American Indian scene, and probably a slightly better ending.

Bratpack.
It is difficult to work out why McCarthy persues nostalgic answers towards reasoning his own grudge against a Bratpack article in circa 1985.
While there were some actors we heard from, some of them goodies. Other faves we don’t see.
I liked those movies, perhaps McCarthy felt slightly left out as he wasn’t having dinner with Estavez.

Below is an article explains who Bratpack were, what happened after the article.
Interesting to note:
St. Elmos Fire and 16 Candles didn’t come out until after the article.
I liked the nostalga of the movie.
And that dude in 2.5 men did well.

Saw horizon part 1 tonight. Pretty good, didn’t need to be 3 hours though. Could have easily shaved off 30min and it wouldn’t have hurt at all.

Ironically the most dull part of the movie was the story involving Costner

I’ll definitely be checking out part 2 later in the year when it comes out

his most entertaining movie is draft day

Is there a bourne 6?
Kostner is in the preview.

I would say A Perfect World.
