At the movies - From the couch

Rdj looks 70. Time to give it up. Along with the whole superdooperextraverse nonsense.

Terrible decision

He had the perfect ending, now they are going to dump all over it

Makes no sense at all for him to play a different character in that universe

I think Marvel and Disney are in full panic mode after a lot of their recent flops. They have completely run out of ideas.

The problem for Marvel (as I see it) is that they’re introducing characters that only hard core fans are aware of.

I’ve never heard of Doctor Doom ( and haven’t read comics for 30+ years) so I have no real interest in seeing the character.

But even as a non comic reader, I knew Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Spider-Man.

War Dogs - 2016

This one is constantly popping up in the recommended for me on the various streaming services. The storyline never really grabbed me, and I can take or leave Jonah Hill.

But it was pretty decent movie, and worth a look.

It’s about a young guy who meets an old friend who has a side hustle in arms dealing. The story follows them as they partner on increasingly dodgy deals.

I cannot believe that nobody has commented on Deadpool & Wolverine yet.

I saw it last week at one of the souped up cinemas… Lux, extreme whatever.

Just a rollicking good movie…no extensive need for exercising the brain but an easy relaxing watch.

Great cameos and just an overall really enjoyable watch

I watched Casino for the first time the other night. I don’t know why I didn’t see it earlier. I’d give it about 7.5, maybe 8, just as a piece of movie making; Martin Scorsese really knows how to make a technically outstanding movie, and the quality of the movie-making is really what stood out.

Not the story or any of the characters, except maybe Joe Pesci as the old-style mobster. I really didn’t engage with any of them. The movie kept moving along for all of its nearly 3 hours, but at the end of it I could only think,“Well, that’s that then.” There’s not a lot I’ll remember about it.

Casino to me is like Goodfellas without the charm. Still a technically great movie and a personal favourite, but lacks that bit of zap that Goodfellas has

You won’t remember the desert scene?!?!
Really?!?!
It’s burned into my friggin’ brain.

I will remember that the movie was extremely violent, but then many of Scorsese’s movies are.

Then you brush that stuff off better than I can…

Well I was watching on TV, not the big screen, and I didn’t want to get too involved with that scene, so I didn’t

Saw Trap tonight. Pretty good, but really falls down in the last 20min. Just way too many plot holes. Josh Hartnett is fantastic in it

I have a contrary opinion to this.

It was honestly like watching a mix of family guy and big bang theory, just throwing meta joke after meta joke in the hope some land. Breaking the 4th waĺl can be funny a couple of times, but by the 20th time the gag gets thin. It pokes fun at other marvel films and makes the same mistakes. You need to have seen the previous movies to get the jokes and references, and you need to have seen the loki tv series to understand all the tva stuff. I’m sure someone who is ball deep into marvel would love all the gags and references but if your less invested it’s just a bit too much.

I made the mistake of seeing “Trap”.

It was one of the top 2 or 3 worst movies I have ever seen in my life, easily. Just absolute tripe. It might be a candidate for Mystery Science Theatre.

Ill check it out. Saw it a while ago. Movies like this are alittle disturbing.

Good movie.

No Ray no Casino?

Only a decade or so too late. Watched “The Book Thief”. Quite a film, that one.

So another dud Shyamalan movie

This bloke continues to live off the success of The Sixth Sense and nothing more

Let me know what you think.
