longer of the same? fkd if im watching a zach snyder film again
Watched The Bikeriders
Was ok. Thought it was gonna be a bit more mental tbh
Yeah I felt the same way.
I loved the setting in the 90s and the real i guess sort of xfiles/fargo sort of feel to it.(without any cheesiness).
Id love to see more of the lead female character in other stories of the same vein and setting.
Horizons.
Not bad if you like great views of the countryside in America. Very nicely shot.
Stories are pretty simple.
Keen to see where it goes
Caught Aliens Romulus last night.
If you love the Aliens franchise see it. It’s great they are making them again.
Nothing compared to the others (well it ■■■■■ over Aliens 3 but what movie doesnt)
But really well cast, great use of effects and would be a good gateway drug into watching the others.(which offer more genuine thrills imho)
Seemed to have less suspense than previous films. Just hurtled along at an awkward pace. Kind of confused if its an Aliens film or a teen action film.
just watched this! Lovely! great cast too - was difficult to take Hugh seriously at first after his role in Yesterday!
only bit that let it down for me was the speech on stage - no way the crowd would have stayed that quiet!
Watched Green book last night on Netflix. I liked it, would recommend.
We need to talk about Furiosa…
I’ll admit, I’m a fan of the OG movies (who wouldn’t be) and I did struggle with Fury Road, but after a couple of watches I ‘got it’. Fury Road is a good standalone move., but doesn’t feel like a Mad Max film.
Furiosa? Easily the most overhyped movie I’ve seen in a while. And what did I get?
The good
-
Hemsworth, who was actually pretty decent, but maybe a bit too comedic. But I thought it might’ve been his best performance. The fake nose was a bit obvious tho.
-
some of the action scenes were decent.
The bad
-
the CGI is terrible. I’ve read online that is supposed to be Millers style, but I ain’t buying it. At times It was like watching a cut scene for a game on a PS2. Jerky, unnatural movements. Just couldn’t unsee it and a big distraction.
-
it’s too long, by about 30 minutes.
-
it’s too confusing. Who the fark are all these people and where are all these towns appearing from?
-
it’s supposed to be an origin story for furiosa, but there was all this other stuff going on.
Would not recommend. 4/10
I could have handled all the other bad stuff if the film wasn’t so filled with CGI, especially during the action scenes. Killed any suspense those scenes could of had
Fury road worked so damn well because it was a simple story and the action was all practical( with small bits of CGI added).
To be honest, I do t think the Furiosa character really needed a prequel. Some things are better left unexplored. He would of been better doing a straight sequel with Theron and have another actor play Max instead of Hardy
I didnt think it was bad, but I just like going back into that dystopian world.
The same places are all in Fury road.
If you watch furiosa into fury road it really dove tails well as a prequel.
Speaking of suspense thats whats ruined in the new Aliens movie.
I love Aliens stories and like action so still enjoyed it.
But doesnt deserve comparison to the first two. Aliens Romulus is forgetful(save maybe the very end) but it is fun.
Instead of all this Fuiosa/Fury road add on, I’d love to see a Mad Max film that fills the void between Mad Max 1 and 2.
I guess the hardest thing is to replace Mel Gibson, but I think Hardy could do it well.
George Miller has about half a dozen movies he could make in the Max saga.(scripts ready to go)
Its just about money to get them made.
