Gladiator 2. Oh dear. Is this modern film making? Better character development in cut scenes from 90’s video games, and action for that matter. Embarrassing for everybody involved.

Beetlejuice squared was a bit of fun. True to, but not a patch on, the original.
Yep, another one that cashes in on nostalgia, all the sign posts from the original, but because it’s Tim Burton it’s done with charm and respect. Bit of fun fluff.

why would there need to be character development based on whos who?
If that’s to me I’d say because without it you don’t give a fark abut anything that’s unfolding. Rusty’s servant had more of an authentic arc than the main protagonist in the sequel, and he was only on screen for a few minutes. Speaking of the main protagonist, first time I’ve seen Paul Mescal in anything. Have to suppose he’s a charmer in whatever Netflix series got his star rising, but he’s a mumbling, giggling, uncoordinated bloke off the street as the scion of Maximus. I might be too invested in my disdain for this film. I expect most stuff these days to be over hyped crap, but this was special.
sequels just need to be more of the first, they dont need to stand up on their own
I know it made lots of money and lots of dumb people liked it. I agree, it did its job. Whether it was more of the first one or not, I guess it was. Like a photo of a painting which is then smeared with faeces is.

For the record I think the first one is a great blockbuster film, but it’s not a patch on Rome the series for this stuff. I reckon Ridley’s got a gang of younger people doing the bulk of his films now and just raking it. Should just produce if that’s the case, legacy is being damaged

Couldn’t tell you why. If it was made in the last 10 years it probably would’ve been the next GOT given the fascination with the Roman empire. Then again without Rome GOT would probably never have happened. As it is it definitely has a dedicated fan following. I’m not sure what difference it makes in terms of quality though. Dua Lipa has a lot more fans than Gillian Welch.
Nicholas hoult’s got a fair few movies this sesaons.
juror #2 was okayish, the order was sorta compelling but probably more horrific than anything else.
