Different strokes for different folks. For example, lots of people over the age of 6 liked Different Strokes, and would probably still like it.
Re-watched Cape Fear (1991) last night and it was far better than I remembered.
Damn fine movie, even if no rakes were stood on.
From an Elmore Leonard novel IIRC. Get Shorty, Jackie Brown, 3.10 to Yuma, so many others.
He wrote the screenplay for Mr Majestyk aswell.
Man I enjoyed it.
Is the OG one worth a look? The remake was pretty solid.
So many horrid remakes around that I hardly ever watch any.
Is that the one with time travel? I saw the trailer, and I’m not sure what to think. I like science fiction, but I don’t like people doing things that could humiliate themselves.
I also thought, just from the trailer, it would be hell of a twist if he’s just mentally unwell.
Yes time travel and AI. You’ll know after the opening scene if it’s for you. He’s OK.
Rockwell carries it. It has a whiff of Terry Gilliam about it but just a whiff. Bit of fun, not great, but it feels like so many new films are being made for low attention audiences, almost preparing them for AI productions. Either that or people used to massive budgets are now trying to work with just big budgets and don’t have the imagination to pull it off, or cut the writing groups
Gotta say…I’m really looking forward to that movie coming out.
Sam Rockwell is such an underrated actor.
He can do
comedy
action
drama
I staggered big hollywood movies don’t use him more often
I loved him in Jojo Rabbit and Moon
he is always the strongest part of any film he is in
Agree. He had a good turn in the last White Lotus too iirc, which was a bit average but he always brings something. Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy reboot was great too
I see Ken Russells’ The Devils is getting a restored relesse.
This is a controversial but amazing film based on the book by Aldus Huxley The Devils in Loudun about religious fanaticism in the 1600s, which is a great read too.
I saw that on first release. It seemed pretty silly to teenage me.
Thrash is garbage. Like a really bad version of crawl( which was a fantastic crocodile survival film)
Should be such an easy premise to get right, but it’s full of annoying characters doing dumb things, terrible dialogue, bad acting
I did enjoy Bob Katter’s cameo.
two hands - sbs movies
watched it a while back, it’s leaving soon - heath ledger and Rose Byrne made in 1999.
never seen it before, great little aussie film.
I rewatched a knights tale (heath Ledger) (tubi) with junior, stands up still as a decent movie.
Two Hands…great recommendation. One of my favourite Aussie films.
Agree. he was in the 1990 Turtles movie as the thug leader would have been his first movie role I think
