At the movies - From the couch

That’s in my top 5 favourite movies. My favourite movie ever as a kid. I wore out the vhs copy at my grandparents house whenever I visited

Still holds up too

Candy is worth a look too. Little grim but decent flick.

Watched that Hail Mary movie Sunday.

I thought it was pretty enjoyable. Worth streaming

It’s the look on their faces when they’re playing chess, and he’s about to win, that gets me every time.

A little grim, yes.

The scene with the father crying at the dinner table…

That whole scene when they’re planning the bank robbery was pure gold. :ok_hand:it couldn’t have turned out better.

Saw it on a plane and really liked it, so must be good.

Just watched The Running Man remake and it was excellent. If you can compartmentalise the original and just enjoy this for what it is, glorious trash, it’s an absolute blast. Much like the Dredd and Total Recall remakes, you’ve got to separate them from the originals and simply enjoy the chaos.

Bryan Brown nails that role. Another good Aussie movie with a great character is Gordan Farkas played by Steve Bisley in The Big Steal. Watched it recently on Iview and he still cracks me up.

Each to their own. But these were 3 of the 4 worst movies I watched in the last 12 months

Just finished (re) watching The Post from 2017

As I was watching, I kept thinking about how relevant the story is to today and how the mass media has become so sycophantic to Trump whilst seemingly no longer caring about exercising their First Amendment Rights.

A great movie with great leads in Hanks & Streep.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War (2026)

Predictable, but enjoyable, action movie (on Prime)

Unexpected part: Tom Clancy was listed as an Executive Producer…impressive seeing as he died in 2013

I don’t get this. The original Dredd was schlock, but the remake was excellent. The original Total Recall was great and the remake was rubbish.

I run out of likes, but that’s hilarious

Dredd’s good I agree. I was in a scifi mood the other day and thought I’d give the TR reboot another chance. Nah, didn’t last 30 minutes, just tedious and a huge disservice to the original. I thought Running Man was pretty enjoyable, a little bit unique even, and it was its own stupid popcorn film inspired by the core idea of the story but nothing more.

I think kids <13 who perhaps haven’t had a Star Wars experience in the Cinema will enjoy the Mandolorian & Grogu.

it’s a fun easy watch. Was great to see El Hutta on the big screen.

You dont need to be a big Star Wars fan to enjoy it as it’s not lore heavy which will probably p a few fanboys off
