It’s a neat way of expressing yourself in a graphic (which I obviously could not be arsed creating).
Works well for reels/Insta…that sort of thing. For creating content.
I agree with your starting point, but I can’t rate Interstellar at all, for the reasons I gave above.
I’m surprised you only give Insomnia a C. I thought it was excellent, mostly due to the extraordinary performances by Robin Williams and Al Pacino. The original version, which I think was Swedish, was just as good. I did like The Prestige, although I thought it was a bit clever-clever at the end. I haven’t seen any Batman films since the very first one with Michael Keaton. Inception is another that I thought was just ridiculous. I recall endless discussions about the significance of the spinning top at the end, all based on the premise that there’s a logical, coherent narrative line to the movie, which there quite obviously is not.
I was thinking about his sci-fi stuff this morning. It’s as if what he really wants to do is show magic, but feels compelled for some reason to dress up the magic with some sort of scientific credibility. He’d be better to stick with good old magic, IMO.
I’d give The Odyssey a B, btw. Like you, I won’t be watching it again.

went to see the latest Spiderman movie last week. First time experiencing the D-BOX motion recliner at Hoyts, which moves and shakes with the action on the screen - was fun! As was the movie, enjoyable watching, don’t have to concentrate on anything!
And going back to the Project Hail Mary topic again… having now seen it five times through streaming, I was kicking myself that I hadn’t seen it at the cinema a few months back. Luckily, a quick search found that it was still on at the Nova - last two screenings this week I think! so I got to experience it on the big screen yesterday. Soooo glad I did! that scene when they’re doing the sample collection… amazing!

Out Of Sight (1998)
George Clooney is terrific as Jack Foley, a charismatic bank robber whose confidence and charm make him an immediately compelling character. Jennifer Lopez is equally impressive as Karen Sisco, a sharp, determined U.S. Marshal who finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Foley. Their chemistry gives the film much of its energy, particularly because their attraction develops within the tension of their conflicting professions.
This is definitely one of Steven Soderbergh’s best films, a stylish, witty, and effortlessly cool crime romance.
The movie combines a clever heist story with an unusual romantic connection between two people who are supposed to be on opposite sides of the law.
The supporting cast is excellent, with memorable performances from Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, Steve Zahn, Albert Brooks, and the late great Dennis Farina.
This movie has aged incredibly well, one of best crime drama’s of the 90s.
It is simultaneously a crime thriller, romantic comedy, character drama, and stylish caper. The dialogue is sharp, the performances are charismatic, and the film never takes itself too seriously.
Such a fun film to watch again.

Think Nolan is the best filmmaker working today. I’m there opening night every single time he has a movie coming out, he hasn’t let me down yet.
I can see why his style isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But I love his work
Tarantino on the other hand I think is one of the most overrated directors in history. His ego and loudmouth comments don’t help either
I think Ridley Scott is pretty overrated. His work fluctuates between fantastic and absolute garbage. The way he talks, you would think he is the greatest director ever
I will also never forgive him for putting the kibosh on the alien sequel that was going to be directed by blomkamp that would have had sigourney and biehn return as Ripley and hicks( set after aliens). Instead we got the garbage Prometheus and the absolute disgrace that was alien covenant.

I’m with you on Nolan…I love his movies.
I’ve liked most of Tarantino’s but could never understand the love for Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood.
Just an over bloated pile of crap (imho).
As for Ridley Scott…he’s made some of my favourite movies…Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom Of Heaven and The Martian…but then he also did Napoleon…which was one of the worst movies I’ve seen in years. Still, most directors would be happy to have his list of credits.

And although I don’t watch the Avatar films, have to mention James Cameron.
James Cameron was right up there as one of the great directors. Him spending a decade+ in avatar movies has hurt his standing imo
Villenvue is a an absolute top notch director who makes very good films
Spielberg was the man but apart from disclosure day and ready player one which I both really enjoyed , he hasn’t made any great movies since the early 2000s imo

Years and years ago there were a couple of films made with something called Sensurround, which I never experienced but I think was something like what you experienced. One made with it was Midway, the war movie about the naval battle of Midway, with Charlton Heston I think.
I just looked it up. It wasn’t the same. They used high volume extremely low-range sound to produce vibration in the whole cinema. Some theatres had to install special speakers that could use it. Same idea though.
