I think they’re very harshly treated.
Good films.
Really?
I thought they were huge box office hits. My kids are only old enough to watch them now, so just catching up. Def want to watch the rest, and at least than $5 for an actual hard copy, it’s a steal.
No, I mean critically.
They’re genuinely good films, and I feel like they get lumped in with Twilight.
Jennifer Lawrence: Oscar.
Julianne Moore: Oscar.
Phillip Seymour Hopkins: Oscar.
Donald Sutherland: Honorary Oscar.
Woody Harrelson: 3 Oscar Nominations.
Gary Ross (director): 4 Oscar Nominations.
Michael Arndt (script writer): Oscar (Little Miss Sunshine).
They are Good Films.
I don’t think people really talk them down too much do they? They’re well made action/ adventure films for a predominantly teenage audience.
Deep impact
Haven’t seen this movie in over 20 years
Watched half of The Social Dilemma.
Bloooooody Hell…
Half is enough for one sitting.
Let us know what you think please.
the last book was terrible, ruined the franchise for mine.
hunger games.
also j-law is objectively not a good actor.
I like Jude Law. Not sure why.
I had one issue with the last episode, but that may be just personal.
But honestly I’ll pretty much forgive the series anything for that one look from PSM. His face baaaaaarely friggin’ changes, but it says everything.
Which is pretty impressive considering he was dead at the time.
For movies with a similar theme of all in kill or be killed.
The Tournament
Battle Royale (Japanese)
The Hunt
Absolutely loved the hunt, a real treat.
I liked silver linings playbook.
I like Jennifer Lawrence…and I have utter contempt for the naysayers.
I haven’t gotten around to watching my Salvo’s copy of the original Hunger Games. I can’t remember why I read the book, YA fiction is not generally appealing to me, but I really enjoyed it. Good balance between plot and character and of course, the moral dilemmas which thread their way through the action. Very easy read but also very thought provoking.
That’s cos you’re a seedy perv. She’s just Jennifer Lawrence in … for all her roles. No range at all.
Watched ‘Hearts of Darkness’ on SBSOD. It’s a not so new documentary on the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s sprawling Vietnam war movie ‘Apocalypse Now’. Fascinating insights on the business and the art/stresses of making a ‘big’ movie. Worth it just to watch Marlon Brando and Coppola working through his scenes and hilarious to see Dennis Hopper being Dennis Hopper.
Winters Bone is brilliant.
Apart from playing a 40-year-old when she was about 23…in Joy.
Anyhow, and I think I’ve said this before, the day I take notice of you re movies, TV and stars, it will be a very cold day in hell.
Just finished watching the unusual Killing of a Sacred Deer. Can’t say I enjoyed it can’t say I would recommend it either. Couldn’t explain it if I wanted to.
Also caught up on a few other films in the past week.
First was the outstanding true story from Denis Villenueve about the 1989 Montreal Massacre called Polytechnique. Very well made film and would highly recommend.
Another film I watched recently was the South Korean film from Chang-dong Lee called Burning. If you don’t like slow films that pose more questions than give answers then you might not enjoy this. Beautifully filmed with a great cast and I really enjoyed it.
Finally I watched the Terrance Stamp revenge drama The Limey directed by Steven Soderbergh. Had some similarities in story to Get Carter and was originally slated to star Michael Caine before Stamp decided to take the role. Really enjoyable film with an unusual character played by Peter Fonda.
