Whilst the past decade of television has had a renaissance. Have to agree with you, a good movie is few and far between. It seems the past decade there has been nothing but Michael Bay style blockbusters or completely depressing real life dramas.
i was bang on the right age for the hype for this movie to send me into an absolute state.
now i’m bang on the right age for hype of a sequel to make me wince
that said, i’ll definitely go see #4 because why wouldn’t i
Whoa whoa whoa!!
Let’s not start having a go at the genius that is Michael bay
This is what always gets me about these films and the reactions of viewers.
You appear to be ok with the whole Matrix concept…and yet you pick at something like that.
It’s sci-fi mate…anything can happen if the storyline is written well enough.
Anyway…I for one will be happily handing over my hard earned coin to see this
It’s hardly nit picking. They both clearly died at the end of the last film. Trinity had one of the longest death scenes I have ever watched
By having them come back, it just dumps all over the previous trilogy imo
It’s a sci fi movie mate…the “fi” part stands for fiction…if it offends you so much, don’t go and see it
Why would it offend me? but if you can’t see where I’m coming from- then we are done here
I have no interest at all in those films and I haven’t seen any of them, but in fiction of all types people have been coming back from the dead ever since Sherlock Holmes was miraculously resurrected after dying so spectacularly at the bottom of the Reichenbacher Falls.
Thought this was amusing but scanning the thread I see we have already gone through 3 or 4 stages of feelings about the trailer
In the fullness of time, l will get around to watching it. However, I won’t rush out to see it at a cinema, even if the lockdown is lifted. The original Matrix was a game changer in the realms of sci-fi, so it is not difficult to see why they would want to go back to it. I am not expecting this latest iteration to be as good as the first. Lower expectations, means l is less likely to be disappointed.
Watching Bicentennial Man from my Plex server
One of my faves great movie
I have a signed photo of Williams from that movie somewhere.
Mrs Wim went to the premiere (in Australia, obv).
Good times.
I’ve never liked robin Williams. If you’ve seen 10 minutes of robin williams comedy stuff (ie coked up inane psychotic shouting) or his ‘dramatic’ overly sentimental, hammy acting style, then you’ve seen it all. Both get tiresome very quickly
Whoa, while I agree that his comedic work is overrated and his stand up in particular is exhausting to sit through, he is pretty great in the right role; World According to Garp, One Hour Photo, Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, Fisher King, Insomnia, Deconstructing Harry, What Dreams May Come, Hook and even movies I don’t like particularly aimed at children audiences such as Jack, Jumanji, Bicentennial Man, I think he acts well or is at least charming. He has range. Good Morning Vietnam i’m torn on, because the shtick wears thin quickly but he is still very good outside of the standup routine sequences.
Even in One Hour Photo he manages to put in a overly sentimental soppy performance.
He is great at eliciting a tear or sympathy from viewers, but I am not sure he has much range to be honest.
His standup comedy is overrated( then again I think most stand up comedy is overrated)But he is a tremendous actor imo. Can do laugh out loud funny or emotional acting
Think of him in
Good morning Vietnam
Aladdin
Hook
Then he can pull off meaty roles like
Insomnia
One hour photo
Good will hunting
Dead poets society( though that’s sort of a mixture)
If Blitzers think Insomnia is any good, then they should see the far superior Norwegian original. I have seen both and the original is brilliant, while the Hollywood copy is pallid.
Kate on Netflix is worth watching. Does exactly what you expect from the blurb, simple but done well.
Loved the Japanese vibe. And Mary Elizabeth Winstead is awesome.
Watched it on your recommendation…thanks…quite enjoyed it
