Sucked in to the production companies who declined to produced Deadpool due to the violence and belief it wasnt going to make money… after 19 days it has surpassed grossed takings of all the Wolverine and X-Men movies.

Made over $100m in its opening weekend alone.
Some clever type on my twitter feed said that the only problem with Deadpool’s success is that Marvel will learn the wrong lesson from it. The lesson they’ll learn is ‘we need more gore and ■■■■ jokes in ALL THE MOVIES, yeah!’, where they should be learning ‘don’t be afraid to take some risks and do something different’
Am I the only one who thought Deadpool was average? Especially considering all the hype surrounding it and the build-up?
Don’t get me wrong, Ryan Reynolds is one of my favorite actors and someone who I find very watchable to say the least but I personally think you can watch the trailor and see all the funniest parts of the movie and not bother actually seeing the extra one and a half hours.
Yeah, it has raked in all kinds of money but if history shows us anything it is, if you give people a Marvel Superhero movie, they’ll spend ridiculous amounts of money to see it. Let alone pumping it’s tyres to the moon and back.
It has been impressive at the box office so far… But let’s not forget… So was Water World…

There used to be a thread for lines like that didn’t there?
Saw Concussion. Decent film. A bit hard to believe though!
As if a large monopolistic sporting organisation would ever attempt to destroy a person and his reputation in an attempt to manipulate an outcome regarding a situation that could damage their brand and highlight the behaviour of its key executives. Just wouldn’t happen.
Excellent movie. Great performance by Maggie Smith - award winning.
Personally, could do without the last 10 minutes. But captivating movie, and thoroughly worth watching. Unless you just like action movies.
Watched 13 hours, very good film. Some of it is pretty brutal. Some really good action scenes and also some great scenes of tension. I would love to know which bits were part of the true story abd which bits were added to make it more “hollywood”
The finest hours was pretty good, starts off a bit slow but the 2nd half is very good.
Deadpool - I am sure I missed a bunch of jokes on this one, nice fight scenes and well put together. I just can’t get really really into these types anymore (seriously this action/comedy genre has been donnnnnne iron man/captain america/galaxy etc) but none the less, an entertaining type.
The Big Short - loved it, will watch multiple times. If it sadly wasn’t so accurate, it would of rated better in the entertainment stakes. Steve C nailed his role, thought the casting was really good. Gosling narrating was spot on. Loved that scene when Michael was having dinner with that bond manager :o
The Dressmaker.
Only watched it because of good (male) reviews here.
It very nearly turned me off in the first twenty minutes. I was thinking…really? Can Australia NOT make a film that’s oddball and quirky…I mean…ever? And add some swear words to that.
But the performances drew me in.
It’s good.
It absolutely wrecked LMW.
I kind of feel like it would have been better served as an HBO mini-series than a film, and I know that means More exploration of the oddball and quirky which goes against what I said originally, but still.
It was good.
Very good.
Spot on, had a few unexpected dark twists for a quirky movie. Judy and Hugo sensational

Even tho he probably did OK with it I couldn't take will Smith's African accent. A bit cliche
Saw whiplash recently, good movie pretty intense, can’t believe in real life that teacher would not have had the ■■■■ punched out of him a lot earlier if that was real life.
Brilliantly acted if not typically slightly annoying American ott over achieving to the extreme. A little bit grinding and drawn out, but a Great ending though, like Rocky 1 for drummers.

l also found the driven approach a bit too OTT. l stopped watching it after about 15 min. That was a month ago. l will get around to watching the rest of it at some stage, but am in no hurry as there are many other things l would prefer to watch first.
