At the movies

funny you say that because the part that makes the older bond movies the best is the snappy (and somewhat protracted) dialogue… newer bond movies are rubbish sans goldeneye and casino royale

I’ve thought most of Wes Anderson’s recent films were just boredom personified. Was it Moonrise Kingdom? Boring. Grand Budapest Hotel. Boring.

Better than Jim Jarmusch, but not by much.

Sphere is very good. I watched it a couple of months ago. Very well done.

Abyss is a pretty good film, with one of my favourite scenes ever (Ed Harris giving CPR to his wife, talk about tension)

A film can be a person then?

Edge of tomorrow is the sci-fi groundhog day movie. And you say you can watch that movie “over and over.” Interesting!

I thought Edge of Tomorrow was the most stupid movie I had ever seen.

Any film where you get to watch Tom Cruise die over and over and over again has SOMETHING going for it.

There wasn’t much else in its favour though.

Gary Busey is awesome in that movie. So is Patrick.

Reminds me - rewatched Hot Fuzz the other day. Great movie. Not quite up to Shaun of the Dead, standard, but good fun.

Yeah, I absolutely agree.

I love OBWAT and could easily add that to the list.

As a younger man I was a Jim Jarmusch fan for those exact reasons. Night On Earth, Down By Law, and Dead Man were particular favorites.

Another great film that comes to mind that searches for the tiny moments of joy and humor in the absolute misery is Withnail and I. Absolutely brilliant and depressing at the same time.

Because I’m bored.

It was released as Mad Max 2 but then changed to The Road Warrior for release in the states.
