One could easily have mistaken it as such.

I binge watched this last week. I liked it. Shame it only lasted a couple of seasons.

Pretty cool listening to him talk about how it all came about and got made.

If it helps, I’m usually the first bloke to switch off Australian TV. I’ve tried watching shows like Crackhead and Mrs X, and I can barely get through the first episode because they’ve got that unmistakable Australian TV stench.

You know the one. The weird overacting, the dialogue that sounds like no actual human has ever spoken it, the gloomy cinematography, and scenes that are trying so hard to be profound that you end up cringing instead of getting invested.

Mr Inbetween just doesn’t have any of that. It never feels like it’s announcing, “Look everyone, we’re making Australian drama!” It just tells a good story. The dialogue sounds natural, the acting is believable, and the whole thing pulls you along instead of constantly reminding you you’re watching an Australian production.

It’s probably the only Aussie drama I’ve watched where I forgot it was an Aussie drama.

Mr Inbetween is a top-notch TV series that evolved from the 2005 movie The Magician, both created, written by and starring Scott Ryan. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever watched.

Fk yeah! I finally got on the list! Even if my submission was taken entirely out of context. I’d like to personally thank @dingus for this nom. Without his poor judgment in quality TV shows this moment might never have come.

You know what, Great Northern is actually one of the best examples of Aus slop.

The boffins at Asahi decided that it needed to be the least flavoursome beer they could brew. It’s not terrible and it’s certainly not good. If you choose to drink it, it’s purely because of how inoffensive it is, but that’s because it’s just nothing. We used it in house when I worked in the brewery for all our sensory perception training because every fault could be easily tasted over the very bland beer it was dosed into.

The most meh thing you can put in your mouth. Literally anything else will generate some kind of reaction, not great northern.

look at mr independent over here

Next you’ll tell me you’re craving some dimmies.

1000000x this.

Wait, we’re talking about Bargearse now?

All will be revealed.

The first time I had it I nearly spat it out. A mate explained To me some time later why he sometimes enjoys it because it tastes like nothing and goes down easily. I’ve only ever tried it a couple times since due to the fact that it’s closer to a mid strength option than what else there was at a particular Bayside local footy club to me at the time. It didn’t offend me but I also couldn’t identify with people thinking it’s amazing. The masses are creatures of habit, love beige or keeping up With the Joneses, I’m ok with that. It’s overtaken VB, knows it’s market with those grinding ads but really is just meh though.

My mate also told me GN or its brewers ■■■■■■ off and offsided a lot of the 4x4 community who used to drink it by supporting a national park and environmental stance in closing access a lot of trails in the bush or parks. If that’s accurate, it’s fascinating how these things permeate Australia or Australiana in more ways than one given it’s really just a big commercial beer.
