Australian Policies -- from 2025 Federal election

We can thank trump for exposing this horrible little cosy and secret reationship that has existed for so many years. Without trump this might have kept going for eternity.
Even if they do reconcile, i imagine that this very event, even if only temporary, can be highlighted by labor and the teals for at least another election cycle, by which time the renewable energy grid will be firmly in place leaving the coaltion in perpetual no mans land. I think this is the time for a new centre right party to emerge.
We kind of need one to be honest. This version of conservative politics in Australia is finally over

Queensland Premier going full dogwhistling Howard . Queensland sovereignty to decide its laws, not some UN boffin.
How to mislead the public and to kill debate in Queensland on the impact of new criminal measures affecting children.
So called UN boffins don’t get to call the shots.
A UN rapporteur appointed by the UN Human Rights Council ( of Member States) has done a report. The Council will consider the report and decide whether it should be referred to a higher level in the UN system , to be discussed between UN Members , including Australia.
If Queensland has a problem with UN standards, take it up with the Feds, who have exclusive power under the Constitution to determine membership of relevant international treaties.
As a major exporting State, Queensland has been a leader in seeking the enforcement of multilateral and bilateral trade treaties. It has been a beneficiary of other countries respecting their obligations ( including through international negotiation and litigation).

I know she’s on radio and has spent a lifetime looking better than I do.

But I really wanted to hand Laura Tingle a hairbrush watching that

Undeniably, the lnp brand is tasnished beyond redemption in its current format.
The 5 most vile components are
1 their constant divisive narrative on most things.
2 their denial of climate change .
3 the constant union bashing message.
4.nuclear as "the panacea " , not an adjuct to.
5.religious fanaticism

They won’t and in fact are incapable of escaping this prison they have built for themselves.
Peering into the future

The lnp are dead in the water.
A half dozen liberals will jump ship to the teals.
They will become "new liberal ".
Go through the motions , register etc , detail the differences between the old blue and new blue.
They will pick up a few more seats in what should have been liberal suburbs before they went mad.
The nationals will sell themselves as the regional champions of conservative comman sense.
They will contest in some traditional areas ans wiÄșl have some success, further diminishing the old lnp.
The alp will embrace "some " more green policies ,
Suitably water them down hoping to further erode the greens by shouting from the treetops that they are radical extremists.
Labor will finally find the “self destruct button” that all labor people are born with , and press it firmly!
Reset the hamster wheel.

The Nats are just playing their version of the Trump Playbook.
Scorch earth with an extreme position
Tell everyone negotiations are open
Wait until things really matter
Negotiate back to where you started from
Tell everyone you have a deal that is a win-win.
So much winning

Paul Erickson doing a fantastic npc speech on his campaign and a commentary on the liberals campaign . I don’t agree with this at all .
he’s doing the liberals review for them

they will scoff though because they don’t learn anything from either this or the previous loss.
they view everything as how to beat Labor, not what is best for the country.

this guy is very impressive . he’s just done a plus 30 minute very detailed speech workout referring to any notes whatsoever

They need to be strictly regulated.

Things that should be banned are Advance Australia and the Exclusive Brethren, and of course, Trumpet of Patriots. Surely Clive can have his wealth depleted some other way.

An expert in mass manipulation, saying as many words as possible without action, and avoiding dangerous territories that result in necessary change, while marginalising anybody who does not benefit from the status quo.

He is a cancer.

The teals aren’t a ship to jump too.

They are just independents until Simon Holmes a Court gets sick of spending his inheritance.

Seriously if you actually knew this bloke, you would never say this. He is a talent at organisation and reads the room much better than most. He has done a good job and you want to abuse him.

So what are those LNP strategists who brought in the Brethren.

Not all of us.

On this national split.

How many of the LNP in Queensland will become Nats and how many Libs?

Just curious if the Nats could feasibly ever overtake the Libs and well fill the opposition cabinet?

It’s an extremely ivory-tower impractical head-in-clouds point of view of course, but I have little time for those pollies whose main expertise is in election strategy. They’re at best a necessary evil that has to be endured in order to get into power the ones who actually know policy and are willing to do something constructive.

The Lib candidate for Curtin (Bishop’s seat won by a Teal) had corflutes twice the size of what is regulated, and had them placed all over the electorate.

People complained they were so bloody big and illegal, but they weren’t taken down and nothing happened to him of course. Except that he lost.

This has been subsequently confirmed by other sources, too.

The other interesting thing it does is give the ALP a third mechanism to pass legislation in the senate. Albeit, would have to be something very weird, but split of NATS from LIBS means NAT plus Others (IND, PHON) is an option.

I don’t think it’ll be used, they’ll stick to GRN or LIB, but it’s there nonetheless now.
