Kicking off with a whinge. Currently can’t get through to the ATO, no call backs, just try your luck over the next few hours after going through all the nonsense robo options of course.

Is this the Public Service, bloated govt employee fat, that Duttz and Co want to cut? I thought it was just Health and Education.

ATO are terrible, should offer call backs works well with other businesses.

Tried again 3 times, same lengthy process of listening, voice recognition etc, finally a call back or hold for 20 minutes. It’s a pretty important area, you might at least stick a Sri Lankan call centre on it :upside_down_face:

This guy shouldn’t be near p house. Good grief, he’s been playing Monopoly while he should’ve been developing policy.

Analysis: Coalition plan would reduce size of Canberra’s APS workforce by 59% by end of decade

A few moments ago, Peter Dutton said the Coalition’s plan to reduce the size of the public service by 41,000 jobs would only impact Canberra-based positions.

According to the Australian Public Service Commission, there are 68,435 public servants based in the nation’s capital. That’s roughly one-third of the overall APS workforce.

Based on those figures, removing 41,000 positions from the Canberra based workforce - through a mixture of voluntary redundancies or natural attrition - would reduce its size by 59% by the end of the decade.

Dutton has previously ruled out cuts to defence agencies, which would likely also include intelligence agencies, and frontline positions that directly deal with the public. That would mean the impact would likely be more pronounced in other policy departments.

Dutton told the press conference the Coalition had been “very clear” that all the 41,000 positions would come from Canberra. He then added another detail:

Some of those positions of course have not even been filled yet so they are projected numbers.

When asked by a reporter “how many real positions would you cut?”, Dutton called for the next question.

Just got an unsolicited Trumpet of Patriots text message.
Solve housing, fast trains 20 min CBD. Cheaper land. Super for Deposit 3% interest, cut immigration 80%.

Too late, I’ve already voted.

Clear as Gina Rinehart’s collective sludge

Reporter: There’s 3800 Commonwealth public servants living and working in Hobart… how many of those jobs would you like to see go…

Dutton: None. We’ve been clear about that

Reporter: You have policy reducing the public service …

Dutton: In Canberra, we’re not reducing the public service …

Reporter: Only in Canberra?

Dutton: We’ve been very clear about that.

The coalition has slashed 41,000 APS staff from Canberra.

And in other unrelated news, The coalition is proud to announce 41,000 new external contracting positions available in the ACT region.

I wonder why they chose you to call

Was a Text not call.

probably due to signing up to a number of competitions with the number. Did go through a period where was getting all the fake aus post messages / UPS but none for a while as kept marking as spam.

So, no cuts at posts, including the numbers boosted for coordination with NATO and in the smaller Indo Pacific countries for the purposes of soft power?

Same, about an hour ago. I’m working on finding out this scumbags private phone number and I’ll prank him at 3am when I do

bigallen if you’re asking Peter you’re not going to get a lot of detail I’m afraid. Perhaps try one of his Canberra lackeys doing the real work. Before they get fired of course.

Only 20 minutes?
Pssst…. That’s nothing. Harden up.

And remember that EVERY Australian business and department is having a higher than usual number of calls (always), and that they value your call. Wait in the far queue!
That’s the Aussie way.

so I heard a Dutton presser today where he said in relation to defence and how hopeless albo is.
"next year we could see war in Europe and we could see war in the middle east "
he was also asked about why he hasn’t visited any of the locations for the nuclear power stations and if nuclear was a drag on their polling, he then went on to talk about the 25c fuel cut and the $1200 handout , despite the reporters attempt to get him to answer the question he just drove straight through and refused to answer or even acknowledge the question

Lolololol
The little dweeb got caught out

David Speirs has been convicted of the two drug offences he was charged with, and ordered to pay a $9,000 fine and undertake 37.5 hours of community service.

He has admitted that the footage of him snorting coke wasn’t a deepfake and that he had previously taken drugs before and during his tenure as leader of the SA Liberal Party.

More detail, for the LOLz: Palmer says that involves creating housing 120km away from all capital cities. So assuming instant stop and stop and no in-between stations that’s 360km/h.

Context: Geelong is 80km from Melbourne. Ballarat is indeed ~120km, but has 10 interim stops and takes 87 minutes.

To provide the required capacity, you’d need multiple dormitory towns for each capital.

Sounds practical, and fundable. Don’t even think about what one million more jobs in the CBD looks like.

I suspect this started as a Sunshine Coast to Brisbane thought bubble, and then they went “what the hell, just say everyone gets one”.

Don’t forget…listen carefully, as the options have changed.

Farken RACV is the annoying one atm. Need roadside assist? Call the number and then have to go through all the options to buy policies, make a claim, make a payment…then put through to emergency
