My upbringing was similar. Parents did ■■■■ jobs, overtime etc. Dad never took a sick day. Made it the hard way.
Gotta be a better way to support working class get ahead.

Only 17/77 Councils in Queensland have fluoride in the water.
Another one about to go.
all those Victorians moving north must be Collingwood supporters. Don’t mind a few missing teeth.
You are full of urban myths. Give some examples of people coming here to “sponge off taxpayers” ?
And direct me to these Government Build construction jobs where workers get $200 per hour, which obviously equates to over $400,000 a year for a 40 hour week.
I know of sites where some work 80 hours a week and the overtime and penalty pay is huge, but nowhere near $200 per hour.
I grew up in a working class suburb with lots of my best friends being migrant kids for Italy, Greece, Malta etc. Australians at the time whinged in exactly the way you now. Facts were that migrants worked long and hard to give their kids opportunities in a new country. My Mum and Dad were good hardworking people, who were racist and prejudice against migrants and aboriginal people. I thought we had moved past that, but probably just wishful thinking.
It’s mind-boggling.
Personally i’d remove the CGT discount to start with. I believe we’re the only country in the world that offers this discount.
I think a fair few stubbies short of a six pack of XXXX up north. Certainly as you get right up there.
The heat must do something to your brain.
Latest SA poll results could mean zero lower house seats for Libs.
More to come.
Clearly they need to go further right.
The Libs are are a bunch of god bothering farkwits with a snivelling weasel of a leader. Really should no longer exist in government. Labor aren’t doing a good job here either but with no credible opposition they can do as they please
I’ll be honest, did have to double take when reading the last two SA polls.
ALP approaching a 50% primary vote is fkg bonkers (ADD: worth noting in 2021 WA election, ALP got an almost 60% primary vote, down to about 41% in 2025). It’s going to be a 2021 WA election style wipeout of the SA Liberals if the polling is accurate.
Bruv I enjoy a lot of your football related irreverent witticisms but you are waffling here.
You sound like a sky news propagandist (or what I imagine what they say tbh, I do not listen) talking about cutting out avocado toast and daily coffees, pull yourself up by your bootstraps etc.
My old man was an immagant in the 60’s too, couldn’t speak english etc. He was an incredibly hard worker and has the most intense work ethic of any individual I’ve ever seen.
In the 60’s the median house price in Melbin was under 3x the median annual wage. Today it’s something like 8-10x annual wage. The system today is cooked. Our parents worked very hard but to act like they didn’t benefit from their era is disingenuous. If they came today they’d be substantially worse off than the 60’s, no matter their work ethic.
This country isn’t cooked because of the taxman and handouts, it’s mostly because corrupt scum politicians sold the people out long ago (and continue to) to multinational corporations, other governments etc who extracted all the wealth profits and left us with a pittance.
Treating housing as an investment instead of the human right that it is also doesn’t help.
I think the true answer to that is both sides probably have interest in wanting the issue fixed, but realise it’ll be incredibly unpopular to actually fix.
I liked how immigration and taxation have become state issues, must have changed since I last looked.
I’ve gotten burned over by Cheryl Tiegs
I would also tax Raquel Welch
But when I wind up in the hay, it’s only hay
Owning a house is not a human right. Being able to live in a house is a human right.
More to come? How do you go lower than zero.
