Australian Policies -- from 2025 Federal election

Big day in Labor history today. 50 years on but everyone I know remembers where they were when Gough was sacked. In my MMBW workplace back then, when the news came through the whole staff of close to 300 walked out in protest, including all Senior Managers.

While the Liberals struggle for relevance, their act that day was endemic of their culture, and it does not seem to have changed. While I can criticise our Labor Government for a lack of ambition and for a conservative approach to progress, I cannot criticise the strength and quality of the Caucus. Quotas were absolutely responsible for the numbers of women in our Parliament and while it taken many years, today with the Federal Cabinet having a female majority of high quality and high achieving Ladies which is a boon for our Nation.

The only way the Liberal Party will move forward is to set Quotas, and ensure that the best and brightest women get supported. It will not happen as they are stuck on ideology and not accepting what is best for their Party and our Nation. Susan Ley will get shafted, and Hastie will take over, hopefully leading them to oblivion.

June 30 2024 the median age in Australia was 38.3 years.

Gough , should have listened to Hayden’s suspicions.
And fxck kerr and his entire lineage.
Lickspittle of the highest order.
And stupid people were only too eager to believe the bullshit “supply” lies.
Disgraceful chapter in Australia’s history.
Labor needs to find their socialist fibre before we turn into Australia’s version of the democrats.

Funny bit is the opposition and 3AW suddenly not supportive of big jail terms for 14-17 year olds.

My issue is that it has taken far to long and that she’s been gaslighting us by saying that everything is safe and ok.

Bring on said big jail terms, at 14, when you commit a crime like that, you know exactly what you are doing.Don’t hide behind your age.

Finally. Took too long. She’s listening to her pollsters.

Again though, how will she endure the law doesn’t give Magistrates the opportunity to ignore the key aspects of the law change?

Bout ■■■■■■■ time, now get cracking on some other corrupt ■■■■■.

She won’t.
She can’t.
The courts don’t want to put kids in jail. The county courts are overstretched as it is.
There is no evidence that it will holistically make society better. Quite the opposite.
It makes some people feel good to say lock the violent brats up, that’s all.
What actually makes things better is woke stuff that those people would hate, and unfortunately costs a shedload of money.

Asking politely not to do it again has us where we are now.

There is no quick fix with this.
No-one is going to say what really turned my life around is when my older brother went to jail for three years, and he was so much better when he came out.
Nobody is pretending this is about rehabilitation. It’s the opposite of that.

Having said that, you’re right, what’s happenjng now isn’t working.
I’d say this proposal is treating the symptoms rather than the cause, but it’s not even doing that.

It’s life on earth, nothing is ever safe and okay. Why is Victoria suddenly the ■■■■■■■ Bronx in 1975? Because it’s the only scrap of bullshit the Libs and their news org can get any traction on. JFC

The funny thing is, I feel like Melbourne was waaaaay crappier and more dangerous when I was in my youth.
How do I put this…I guess the intensity of the violence was less, but the commonality of it was far, far more.

Your mileage may differ, of course.

Edit: what I’m trying to say is that perhaps I feel like I’m a little more likely to be stabbed now, but I was way way way more likely to be beaten the crap out of for looking at someone wrong in the late eighties/early nineties.
