Australian Policies -- from 2025 Federal election

No…if you want the benefits of living in the country, then take up citizenship.

It really annoys me that people want to double dip…if our money/benefits are good enough for you to use, then become a citizen.

Dual citizenship is just a rort.

These people are paying taxes why shouldn’t they be entitled to tax payer benefits

50/50 I reckon

For the simple reason that they don’t wish to become Australians and move on from their country of origin.

They’ve chosen to come here, chosen to stay here…then choose to become one of us.

Chosen to pay taxes…

Voted this arvo in the People’s Republic of Northcote (Thornbury technically). Was absolutely packed. Lines as long as election day.

That’s a very disingenuous response Mrs Heff…nobody chooses to pay taxes…we pay them because it’s the law.

People deliberately find ways to avoid or not pay.

Rights to dual citizenship in Australia only became possible in 2002. Maybe look back on the reasons why the relevant Act was amended.

Did you have a democracy cannoli?

I’m not sure how that helps your viewpoint.

But that’s ok…we don’t agree on this point.

I respect (and agree with) your opinions on so many other issues so I’ll just drop out of this topic now.

Have a lovely weekend

Tomorrow has a stench of Essington about it

There is no such thing as Essington an election. Australia gets the government they vote for.

We have an incredible democratic system, the envy of the world. Any upset is just people not getting a result they like.

Thornbury Salvos? Voted there yesterday about 10:30am. Was quiet as a quiet thing. No waiting.

Norfcote can fark off with their appropriation of their betters.

Last night was a horrible nothing result for all of us Essington supporters. For many tomorrow will be the same.

If Dutton were Jewish, there would be a strong case that the Rabbi doing his circumcision threw away the wrong piece!

I’m a dual citizen but I don’t believe it should be allowed and would happily hand back my other citizenship if required.
I think everyone that comes here should eventually be made to become an Australian citizen
