Australian Policies -- from 2025 Federal election

I could see his seat getting hammered again next time.

You’d end up with even more single issue candidates.

I think it’s an appalling system.

I agree somewhat . the teals only exist because of the vaccum in the inner cities that the liberals created since ramping up the culture wars significantly since Abbott .
I think it’s actually a great thing that the teals are thriving . it’s giving food for thought to both the greens and the liberals . the bats only exist for rusted on olde country folks and need to modernise their thinking too if they want to survive .

anyone remotely decent and moderately centrist get eaten alive by the right wing boys club . the women that do manage to finally get a seat at the table are even worse than the blokes

That your opinion of it, I think breaking a two party preferred system would lead to better outcomes

I would like to put to bed the Jewish vote theories about the ascendency of Tim Wilson in Brighton polling places.
Looking at polling place counts in 6 strong Jewish locations around South Caulfield and Elsternwick, Daniel won 5 of 6 polling places by decent margins. In these areas you find quite a number of Jewish schools and synagogues.

I am not Jewish in case the thought crosses your mind.

Just had a look - over on Sky (good for a laugh). Jacinta Price blames the result purely on Labor’s smear campaign. Jeepers, you’ll find commentary from LNP insiders and even Murdoch journos pointing out how epically terrible Dutton and his senior team were, pretty much reflecting the angles the labor party worked - are they all wrong??

I agree with you on this.
As regards independents, teal and otherwise, they will have zero power in decisions over the next 3 years but a massive role to play being the voice of communities in parliament, totally unfettered by having a whip cracking over what they say and how they vote.

Having said that, whats the state of the senate now?

That’s not really the point she thinks it is.

The ALP would go “ok, but that’s half the game when campaigning- so thanks for telling us we’ve won that”.

Kim Williams needs to send an email to all ABC staff.

YOU WILL NOT CALL JACINTA PRICE for comments on…well…anything. As Paul Keating said, she is unrepresentative swill.

Check out European countries, particularly Italy, before 2000.

Country is ungovernable. Preferential voting is the best system for mine.

Before all this, getting a policy agreed by Cabinet that needs legislation, the hours and days and weeks chewed up by Public Servants from multiple agencies in getting a Bill into shape. Then different Ministers want something else ( or trying to white ant another Minister), start all over again.
About the crappiest of any crap PS job, particularly if it’s bad policy.

I checked the Wannon votes by polling places.

Most of the coastal towns (Portland, Port Fairy, Warrnambool) voted Dyson, and the inland towns voted Tehan.

Looks like the mail hasn’t arrived in Goldstein today.
