Australian Policies -- from December 2023

They just put it in so the unions can bargain for an allowance. Which I don’t mind.

So now Barnaby Jones has a medical issue.

I suppose being a p1ss-pot is a medical issue.

It’s amazing how many public or high profile people have medical or mental health issues once they are caught out.

The bull-■■■■ just keeps on piling up in this country.

they you mean pocock and lambie. maybe I am mistaken but labor would have taken it out, it was those two who insisted on it in order for the bill to pass.

I mean…he absolutely does and that’s not news.
The debate, if there is one, shouldn’t be about Joyce at all.
It should be about why the media and his supporters continue to excuse him.

Edit: to be fair, I had 3AW on (driving Mrs Wim’s car, so…)
And the DJ was saying, how would we react if this were Gillard, or Bishop, or Lambie?
And then he asked how Joyce would react to that…
So…at least it’s being discussed.

Or as per David Speers on ABC’s Insiders today, the real issue was Albo’s reaction to Barnaby’s pavement hug!

how is the spin on Barnaby Joyce getting plastered and probably in a domestic phone call with his missus.

“why didn’t anyone help him”
“medication mixing with alcohol”.

Do news outlets think Aussie were born yesterday? the bloke was shitfaced on a night out and half out of it on the sidewalk.

There is a difference in the two incidents though. One was falling over drunk in public.
One was verbally abusing people whilst being drunk in public. Not sure if the people deserved it but they are different.

Honestly if we lived in a country where Gillard, Bishop or Lambie could be taking a nap on a sidewalk blind drunk safely left to their own devices?

It would probably be viewed as a good thing.

Someone should have called the cops on him after taking that vid rather than trying to approach a plastered person(MP or not) swearing into a phone. let them sort it out

If he doesn’t have a drinking problem, and I really think he does, he still drinks while he’s working.
And not a little.

I think I disagree with the premise of the entirety of your post.

I particularly take exception to Dutton’s whitewashing point of blaming an anonymous person for filming a public person disgracing himself in public.

Whoever that was, and what they did, is so far not the issue that…it’s kind of offensive.

He’s a binge drinker and probably an in between binges drinker as well. Like lots of Australians. Unlike most of those Australians his decisions affect millions of us and so he should be removed from office. We already know he’s prepared to blatantly rort the public for money to support his lifestyle.

The rest is just noise designed to divert, and back it in if he doesn’t do the right thing and resign he will take some me time and resume like it didn’t happen.

Parliament finished at 10 and that video is at 11:30

That’s one hell of a binge.

You never quadruple parked after working overtime?

4 drinks doesnt do that to you, especially a seasoned drinker.

Is he really wrong though?

It will give you enough money to buy a reasonable property, and have a child, maybe two, and maybe a holiday every few years.

Isn’t that the definition of middle class?

I never said he stopped after a single round.

I guess it depends on how much your partner earns.

I don’t think the top 10% of taxpayers are indicative of the middle class, but each to their own I guess. Depends how you define it

I guess I look at it based on the lifestyle it would afford you, as opposed to it being a measure of wealth relative to others.

No we are on the same page re Joyce.

But the double standard on women is not only that women would be judged, they just don’t and perhaps couldnt. Certainly not middle to older aged ones in their 60s.

There is no doubt women are just as if not more vulnerable on a night on the drink than men.

If we had a society where women didnt get assaulted, raped and robbed when inebriated then yeah.

I just cant imagine an older woman on her own like that.
