Australian Policies -- from December 2023

If he’s talking about a household with two working adults on a combined total of $160k, then he’s almost bang on.

is he though? they don’t usually refer to salary as a household salary . tax cuts they are talking about are not per household as such it’s per individual . if 160 K is average , I’m way behind average

Yeah, that’s what i mean. It’s been a long time since i’ve had to account for spousal income on my taxes so i don['t really know how it works any more, but I’m pretty sure it’s taken into account. I don’t know exactly what Chalmers was thinking there, but if he’s saying a 2-income household income of $160k is ‘middle’ then he’s very close to accurate. If he’s talking about a single income, of course, he’s off his fkg tree.

nah your tax rate is your tax rate , you don’t share or accumulate your tax . you’d be crazy to do that , you’d be on a higher tax rate.
you can split income by 2 in a business to save money if you both work on the business , but you’d never combine your income to a higher tax bracket .
maybe I’m not getting something here but I can’t see why the treasurer would be talking about 160 K salary as combined wage when his tax rates are set for individuals

just watched 6o minutes , which I don’t normally , this paladin thing is old news as far as dodgy liberals go with the refugee contracts , but I think federal ICAC might finally have its first case

Or he’s smart enough to know middle class isn’t defined by proximity to average income.

They never will. They know the Libs’ policies are as fragile as gossamer threads in a hurricane, or as morning dew in the increasingly hot days their climate denials policies are dooming us to.

Good evidence that some Aussies WERE born yesterday.

Zero doubt he’s drinking before P, topping up in his office with something brown, finishing work with the same brown stuff, then off to a bar where the agreement between local pizzhead journos and pollies is still in place. All day binge

If I stopped and offered help to every drunk person lying on the ground swearing into a phone on a night out, I would never get home.

And if everyone put down their phones and helped people we wouldn’t have any FailArmy content to watch.

Footpath, pavement.

Brought up on sesame street I guess.

I think if I’d seen someone fall, I’d go over and ask if they were ok. But if they are just drunkenly lying on the floor using their phone or whatever, yeah, I’ll leave them be. Having been in that position before, all you want is a bit of space.

Private employment services funnelling millions in taxpayer dollars, another Coalition scam/scheme with a ‘who’d have thunk it’ end. All too late of course, as leafy suburb ‘entrepreneurs’ have feasted on it and will suffer no consequences, companies within companies, in house courses, false claims of success triggering further incentive payments. These are the types that would’ve got the tax breaks (oh, and still will)

yeh maybe he does, but any idiot knows that you shouldn’t mix drinking alcohol with medication.

they’ll pull the mental health card soon to turn the heat off them . guaranteed

Our biggest concern right now is Barnaby’s welfare. The exact line from Dutton and Taylor within hours of each other.

It could be legit.
But it’s no better than just saying “yeah, I smashed seven pints and six shots, my bad”.
