Australian Policies -- from December 2023

Also if we are talking about price gouging why do politicans never ever talk aout fuel price rises near holidays? and why dont they ever talk about how arilines just jack up prices when big events are on?
I was supposed to go to Sydney this week and the arifare was $780 dollars one way from Brisbane to Sydney and I have not heard the word gouging used by a politician or a journalist once this week,
The medai just sort of chuckle about how expensive it is. They seem happy to bang on about coles and woolies but the arilines are untouchable

What about meat? Surely they can do better with their buying power to be able to offer bulk pricing? They dont even try

I won’t hear it. The airlines saved this country during covid and now they’re just making up for lost opportunity. $900 for a one way Melb to Adelaide economy lite is a farking bargain and you’ll swallow it with your cup of water for lunch.

You mean the airline that illegally sacked 2000 people after they got their covid cash from scomo?

I just got my Woolies online order delivered……it was over $200……they informed me I saved $48 ……but against what ? Against over inflated prices? Look I like Woolies but they don’t need to gas light me into thinking I saved $48 when I probably got ripped off by $75

Got property in a SMSF?

I remember when convenience stores cost a bomb but if you went to the supermarket stuff was cheap.

Now it seems supermarkets have convenience store prices.

I don’t know where it ends

And convenience stores have overnight turned into boutique marts and delis who monitor what the supermarkets are doing then jack up accordingly. $9.80 for a small box of Special K anyone? For the ambiance and convenience, take my money!

Visited a post office lately? Holy ■■■■ they have some crap to sell you.

Limited edition Mickey Mouse merch is the latest here, kind of feels like a quirky copyright lapsed or something. It was enough to have me purchasing a pen light with a built in fan to keep myself from fainting.

Yes, the Mickey Mouse copyright expired, so anyone can use it now (or something like that)

For “Steamboat Willie”-style Mickey only.

That was it, yep

IGAs up my way are absolute extortionists, prices are much higher. You need an Aldi or Costco nearby if you want good prices.

Sort of left field, but suitable to go with the govt looking into supermarkets.

Anyone used amazon to buy groceries?

I pay for prime, thinking i might buy more household consumerables through them instead of Coles.

Just got bailed up by a labor politician while trying to get my lunch.

said main issues were

  • cost of living
  • Housing
  • Health care

some of their policies are actually ok.
like will cap power price increases and ensure Tasmanians benefit from Hydro.

Stance on footy stadium was that ‘we don’t need it’.
UTAS Stadium will be bigger capacity than proposed stadium once its been refurbished.
Apparently AFL deal has been amended already by Lib govt, so could be changed again.

Haven’t the AFL already insisted that the new team must be Hobart based?
