not to mention traffic delays happen on a pretty frequent basis for a multitude of reasons

very little demand for jail sentences for people running out of petrol in the domain tunnel

Serial nutjob aren’t they?
Several offences to their name and I guess the judge finally had enough

I’d never considered that as punishment, but I’d be all for it.

almost all frustrations about living in large cities boils down to ā€œhow dare other people live here??ā€

I’d be very unhappy if I was the woman giving birth on the side of the road because of their actions.

I read the article.

Only 3 contractions and the baby was out. Ambulance arrived 20min later.

They have a great story to tell, and they’ll probably name their kid Antifa!

This quote from the Prosecutor Geoff Adams made me LOL:

Earlier, Mr Adams said the protest caused ā€œcatastrophic inconvenience and delayā€ to thousands of people, and disrupted emergency services who would have needed to respond to critical incidents.

The phrase catastrophic inconvenience is such an oxymoron.
Seems very ā€œthe world is ending because I was a bit lateā€ to me.

I’d be very unhappy if I was the kid she had, aged 21 and facing a life of protein sludge for brekky, lunch and dinner, 46 degree averages in Summer, and virtual animal friends for down time between stints on the resource war front with Indonesia.

(May or may not be the exact scenario this kid will face)

You know that they’re protesting so that her baby has a shot at a livable future, right?

Go to Parliament House and protest in front of the people that can actually do something about it. I don’t care what you are protesting but I will happily get violent if you block or disrupt my day

yet threatened their immediate future.

People need to be more outspoken. and actually stand up for things they believe in if its environment or whatever, but needs to be peaceful protests, lobby politicians, go on a long walk / run / ride etc, but if they are causing havoc should be charged…

Soon, mate, soon.

People are feeling desperate because nothing ever changes. BAU is gonna get us all killed.

Her stunt yesterday is going to do nothing. Go and protest where it matters.

There seems to be a lot of posters in the climate thread, but I wonder how many attend actual protests or have written/emailed to their local politician about the matter.

People also don’t want to pay the cost for ā€œclean energyā€ / reducing carbon.

And then there’s still if Aus do it and rest of world don’t then we are cooked anyway.

Europe are leading the way, but they are probably feeling more weather events etc which likely makes them more inclined to push forth with changes.

Our Govt isn’t forward thinking.
If they were would have massive solar farms, invested in creating massive batteries to store power and would have invested in a electric vehicle car market. to encourage use of EV’s drive productivity and reduce emissions.
reduce reliance on big oil.
And need to tax LNG a lot more, given coal and iron ore royalties will reduce in the future.

I guess you could say this person got people to talk about the issue for a few days, but will there be any real positive outcomes from this stunt. unlikely.

I know. I support actions to mitigate climate change.

But I’ve also pushed two humans out of my body and if given a choice, would prefer to not do it on the side of the road.

How exactly is stopping traffic on that god awful bridge helping?

Has to be posts of the year.

Jail time for stopping traffic eh?

Should have committed half a dozen aggravated home invasions instead as that would only incur a non-custodial sentence with probably 5 hours of community service!

Don’t be so ungrateful.
That little stunt has solved the climate change crisis.
