How have we reached a point where it’s not ok to both be a supporter of climate change action AND think those ■■■■■■■■■ that blocked the bridge should be punished?
Like my union comrade morons who closed the bridge in 2022 or whenever it was, these fools have actually harmed their own cause by highlighting their selfish stupidity to the broader public, rather than the climate shifts that are happening.
And seriously, there are blitzers who appear to be suggesting that a woman who has to give birth in a traffic jam should be thankful for the direct cause of that traffic jam coz it’s kinda…well nebulously…no, frankly spuriously done in the name of her newborn??? Go and have a lie down and consider the import of what you’ve just said, ffs.
Edit - oh, and it gets worse because the female blitzer who has actually given birth to two children is then given a lecture on the future as an offset to her actual, real world, I’ve done this opinion.
We’re ■■■■■■. We’re so ■■■■■■. Because this is now a time when nuance and considered , even experienced opinions are decried and burnt on strawman stakes and everyone must choose one of the polarities and defend it to the bitter end using whatever ■■■■■■■ brain dead thinking comes to hand at any given moment.
if the traffic jam was caused by something else (as happens regularly in melbourne and other large cities) and resulted in a woman having to give birth in a car, who do we get mad at?
“I have reflected deeply on my actions and this morning in contemplating them,” he said. “I came upon the following Bible passage in 1 Corinthians 10.13: ‘No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind, and God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.’
I don’t really get why people would get too angry about it all unless they suffered a personal financial penalty or issue with their health and well-being as a result of it all.
Having said that, I think significant traffic delays caused by an accident/something accidental are probably more easily forgiven than something that happens on purpose.
If the Westgate had three lanes closed by road works at peak hour without any prior warning I’d say people would be pretty angry too.
But all in all, the world rolls on and nothing really changes. The climate protest will have made absolutely zero difference and those that were furious are now likely pretty over it.
Just watched Trainspotting 2, so I read this in Rentons Scottish accent just like his ‘Choose Life’ monologue. Thank you.
And, not to be ‘that guy’ because I’d hate to be having a baby on the side of a road. Buiuuut if she had have left a bit earlier…the timeline they gave sounds like she wouldn’t have made it anyway!!! /s
I got delayed this week by the freaking ASEAN summit, cops everywhere, shut down traffic lights and cars backed up for blocks. All just so some pampered dignatories can feel important for awhile.
