As a unicameral system of government and with more of its population living outside the capital, Queensland politics can be in a world of their own, subject to wilder swings. When Goss came in , he said it was the end of the Joh Bjelke Peterson era . However, the term of Campbell Newman, reaching into the judiciary, was a lesson to Queenslanders. If a Party wants to stay in Government, it needs to exercise its power responsibly.
I think it all stems from Anastasia P being so arrogant . I donât know anyone who likes her and miles had to change from attack do to me nice guy , that never works . the only other guy that might have got the job was Cameron â â â â , and thatâs exactly what he is . he is the consummate annoying politician .
the only think is Crisafulli has played the small target by just saying anything and agreeing to do everything so we wonât know anything about this bloke till he actually gets the job
The problem that we seem to face in Australian politics is that Parties are somewhat dysfunctional.
The only progress happens under Federal or State Labor, but they either donât go far enough with policy renewal or screw up some good initiatives. Love them or hate them, recent State Labor Leaders in all States even Anastasia are way ahead of the Liberal Leaders. In NSW, they were shown to be bigger crooks than Labor and in Victoria they have little talent and are torn between religious right fanatics and tired old conservatives.
Federally we need to have fixed 4 year terms for both houses with a fixed election date in November each 4 years. All States should have fixed 4 year terms with a common election day in November two year after the Feds.
And all election donations should be banned, and fully funded ( with strict limits) by the public purse.
If I was the Owner of the place, I would replace State and Local Councils with regional governments under the Feds. We have far too many politicians for our population.
In Queensland, the Nats are the dominant Party in the LNP Coalition. Thereâs such a small pool of Libs to draw from for representation at Federal level. Itâs why some of the worst Libs come from Queensland. And now we have one of the worst of the worst as the alternative Prime Minister.
It will be Brad Battin, proper right winger whoâs challenged before. Heâs a former cop so he will copy Dutton and the Herald Sun will run a 2 year law and order scare campaign to support him.
Re-emergence of African gangs from the Africa?
Da youff are out of control.
Itâll be Bec Judd running the crime campaign. Have you seen whatâs been happening down in Brighton lately ?
Credlin and the News Corp cabal will be cheering on the hardest of right wingers.
Please, get your facts straight.
Itâs âgangzâ.
the corporate fraud from its residents is pretty appalling
Liberal party just has to take a step to being reasonable and theyâll get some of their more normal voters back
More normal ?
being more normal isnât being normal
I read in todayâs Age that 59% in a poll oppose public protests over Israel/Palestine/Hamas/Hezbollah issues. I wonder what that actually means, given that protesting is a civil right, and if it translates to only being able to protest the popular things.
Agree. Think it is good that people are showing interest and concern for others by protesting. One thing is clear! Political parties of all persuasions donât like protests at all.
Reckon the Greens still like a good protest or two.
Labor likes the popular ones, where it can feel nice.
Liberals protest with blackshirted Nazis
Nationals ; do they still actually exist.
Crazy that albanese is tweeting about how much air is in a chip packet. Surely thereâs something bigger than that to address.
Think maybe deceptive packaging is a big issue and one that the ACCC has let us down on since it started in 1974.
Prices go up, boxes and cans stay the same size but are filled with less product.
