Is it cause when everything is outsourced it doesn’t count?
Cost centre shifting… project work not BAU payroll
It’s not the public service it’s a huge increase in health, mental health and aged care. Which most are on needed service delivery roles.
The commentary that the underlying private economy is struggling is true, but that’s what the RBA wanted.
Health and some aged care is also public sector, not just public service. The proposed reorganisation of aged care at home and NDIS may mean that less money goes to private providers and some fringe services by other private providers… Public hospitals may cut down on some outsourced private providers, resulting in lower than anticipated growth in some allied health sectors.
That’s what I’m saying, the 1 million jobs created in the public sector aren’t Canberra jobs they are in hospitals, aged care and allied health.
It hasn’t been cut, it’s been growing very strongly.
NDIS would have added a lot but just in general
more people need more govt jobs. Nurses/doctors/fire brigade / police etc
Yep NDIS is one, it’s sort of the perfect storm. We pumped billions more into health during covid, we pumped 100’s of millions into mental health post COVID, NDIS is growing well above the economy and then the real kicker is Boomers are now old. We allways knew we would be spending dramatically more on health and aged services now that the Boomers are retired. With the spending comes the jobs
Nearly all the providers in aged care ( residential and at home) are private providers, private sector employers or with subcontractors on their books. Aged Care is Federally funded.
A lot of NDIS (in community settings) is private providers
Some of it is extremely well paid compared to similar jobs in public health.
It’s not public vs private as a layman would think it. The data includes government funded jobs(so health and aged care) in the non market sector.
“About 70 per cent of all employment growth over the past year was in the so-called “non-market sector , which includes the government-funded industries of education, health and the public service”
Chalmers response
Focusing on the care economy, Treasurer Jim Chalmers told ABC Radio National criticism of publicly funded employment was “snobiness”.
“Obviously as the economy recovers we want to see more jobs in the private sector. But care economy jobs are real jobs,” he said
“I completely reject this sense that somehow it’s not a real job if it’s in the care economy.”
RAAF have picked up Charlie and are on their way
Not to Victoria they’re not.
Or here.
Will be in Sydney in about 3hrs
Why do you care Ace ?
I don’t. Was just doing the evening freight manifests and time slots and noticed that his flight was flagged
Obviously Royal Family are no longer threatened by IRA if their flights are well known.
Being as frugal as he is it wouldn’t surprise me if he flew BA with the plebs to Singapore and then the RAAF picked him up
I think Oz pays for the King of Australia to visit us.
AHEM!! The King of England. Not us!!
