Australian Policies -- from October 2024

If you don’t like division in the community and want a politician who stands up against racism, vote 1 Dutton.

It’s not the point of the quote, but damn you really can fool some of the people some of the time.

That is the very definition of a forlorn hope.

Sadly I think you’re right

Shane Patton trying to keep a lid on it and avoid contamination of any future legal proceedings, not helped by AFP pronouncements - likely it is a terrorist attack and jail likely ( before they’ve even found the perps, let alone a terrorist motive) - running ahead of him, failing to inform him of its new committee.
All the cops he’ll have to find as we go into the summer holiday period, maybe some of the building owners could employ security guards to help out. Adass Israel alone has a child care centre and schools for boys and girls in Elsternwick.

But you need to understand dmapes’ need to “feed the narrative”.

It’s standard procedure for Murdoch media supporting Tories/MAGA: make everyone feel unsettled about how everything is being handled by any govt that is not in Rupert’s pocket.

I’m going to take a guess, but once it’s declared terrorism it probably grants a whole heap of rights to the police that they normally wouldn’t have. (Trade off on civil liberties for security)

That and probably money/resources are made available out of budgets.

Here you go.

They start using(read paying for) 5 eyes intelligence for one.

I remember when the Palestinian activist who had his chicken shop firebombed earlier this year. The police were at pains not to link it to a terrorist attack. Governments will be cautious about this in the future because it causes concern in the community.

Have to laugh when a US based human right organisation issued a travel warning against Australia. I suggest that if this organisation wants to protect Jewiss people they need to have a travel warning for every country in the world.

On cue Duttz and Barnaby attacking CSIRO for bias despite the report bending over backwards to accomodate the LNP’s dissatisfaction with the initial report and costings.

Our current govt are an obsequious lot, we get the govt for our times I suppose and our times are intellectually bereft, but this current opposition is gearing up to be worse than under Scomo. You’d have to be a real deadset carnt to vote for them. I pity those in seats with no good socially minded independent option.

Criticising everything for the sake of it? Don’t you remember Abbot?

You only have to look at the governments scorecard of performance to know the govt is feeding its own narrative. If it were doing a good job, it wouldn’t be dealing with plunging popularity which is reflecting the voters dissatisfaction.

No amount of symbolism, spin, tag lines can alter the reality that people are living… Broken ejection promises, 12 consecutive rate rises, per capita recession and standard of living declines, sticky home grown inflation, social cohesion destruction, etc. Voters don’t think the govt is doing a good job.

Voters were promised by Albo at the election that they would be better off with Labor in charge. Not to mention cheaper energy prices!. Reality is, this isn’t true and voters are frustrated.

The govt created a blueprint of a better future, it created a false narrative. It’s now dealing with the reality of a narrative of its own creation.

After reviewing Duttons comments on the fire bombing, pronouncements that he will not stand in front of an aboriginal flag if PM and his criticism of the CSIRO independent report on power costs, I conclude he is a flog.

And will probably be the next PM.

Strap yourselves in from a light orange imitation.

We’re going to be in a very damaging cycle of one term govt’s that build and cultivate. Dmapes will never admit it but he knows Labor always have to spend their first term rebuilding what the LNP broke instead of doing what they should be doing - see Dan Andrews govt in Vic for an example of a multi-term Labor govt that gets ■■■■ done - which makes them an easy target for the press propaganda arm of the LNP to bring down. We’re so far behind where we could have been because of this cycle.

fwiw, this is an actual example of dog whistling for people like Lawry who don’t get it

Dutton claimed in a press conference on Monday that the Jewish community was “rightly” critical of Burns and Victoria’s premier, Jacinta Allan. Burns appeared at a press conference with shadow home affairs minister, James Paterson – who was alongside Dutton at his Melbourne event – just hours after the synagogue fire.

Asked if it was “fair” to criticise Burns, Dutton doubled down.

“Josh is a nice guy but Josh lost his voice long before the weekend,” he said. “Josh hasn’t stood up to a weak prime minister, and the job for a Labor MP is to stand up to a prime minister who has put political interests of the Labor party ahead of our national security interests.

“When people were brought in from Gaza, people who hadn’t had the security checks undertaken on tourist visas, that’s when Josh Burns should have been speaking up … So I don’t doubt Josh Burns’ intent, his passion, but he’s part of a political party here which is the problem.”

Deadset carnt.

The sewage is overflowing.

I’m not going to comment on all of that stuff from Dutts but in regards to Josh Burns I will give you my insight I guess living within the Jewish community in Melbourne (my wife and daughter are both Jewish and I attend a lot of Jewish community and family events). My wife knows Josh B and thinks he’s a really wonderful guy and my impression is in general the Jewish community are proud of his achievements as they were Josh F.

However there is also a sense of some disappointment that Josh B hasn’t been as strong as he could have been in condemning antisemitism. Is that criticism fair? Some will say no. However, the feeling of disappointment is real by members of the Jewish community that I’ve spoken to - family, friends, friends of friends and business associates. Because of that sense of disappointment in Josh B, that doesn’t change the fact they like him respect him and are proud of his achievements- it’s just that there is a real sense of disappointment that JoshB, but also Albo, the Premier and many political leaders haven’t done enough to stamp out anti semitism.

What more do you think they can do ?

Hate laws are in place, Nazi salutes and stuff are banned and every Leader has come out strongly on all anti-semetism.

Do Jews you know want protests banned ? All protests or just ones against the Israeli Government, or for the Palestinian people ? Any Laws like this are just another march down the road of facism and take away all our rights ? I find it appalling that the right for workers to strike is severely compromised, and take away free association and speech and we are just puppets.

That’s a lot of words and TMI to say you agree with Duttz.

I like how compassion can only be able extended to your clique
