Is the claim that âZionism is Facismâ is antisemitism valid though ?
By one definition : Zionism is an ethnocultural nationalist movement that emerged in Europe in the late 19th century and aimed for the establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people through the colonisation of Palestine. Hence the establishment of Israel.
Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, by a dictatorial leader, centralised autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.
Antisemitism is hostility to, prejudice towards, or discrimination against Jews. Primarily, antisemitic tendencies may be motivated by negative sentiment towards Jews as a people or by negative sentiment towards Jews with regard to Judaism.
In the former case, usually presented as racial antisemitism, a personâs hostility is driven by the belief that Jews constitute a distinct race with inherent traits or characteristics that are repulsive or inferior to the preferred traits or characteristics within that personâs society.
In the latter case, known as religious antisemitism a personâs hostility is driven by their religionâs perception of Jews and Judaism.
It could be argued by someone who protests passionately for a free nation of Palestine and at the death of 45000 people, that the actions of Israel are fascist, hence the bland statement of Zionism is Fascism has some truth behind it. But it does not seem to meet the definition of antisemitism.
Painting this slogan anywhere is distasteful, but no worse than many others I have seen that push a political narrative.
However the actions of allegedly using petrol to start a fire and other violence is where the penalty should be much more than a diversion program.
Economic vandalism, by the the âgreat economic stewardsâ no less. Completely fits with their MO.
You should know by now if anyone has any type of criticism against israel, no matter how well-formed on an issue, than you are Anti-Semitic. Its the biggest load of hogwash which continues to be propogated throughout the wordl.

You fall into the narrative of left and right and use this to frame your arguments. I could give anyone 100 questions about different issues and their answers would vary between between left/right or in the middle. Labelling people right wing or left wing is juvenile.

This is not the first or last time that an MPâs office has been or will be vandalised. People get passionate about a whole range of issues which unfortunately leads to undesirable actions.
You ask anyone to pay for something and they wonât be happy to do it. But when time comes to change over appliances thereâs not the overwhelming reason for gas any more.
Heat pump electric hot waters cheap to run.
Induction is the best cooking surface available (performance and for your health).
Gas heaters are hazardous and split cycle aircons generally more efficient.
So not to throw shade on the stats quoted, but I think when anyone sits down to make a decision and runs the numbers on it more will pragmatically switch over.
Itâs another area where I donât think taxpayers really need to necessarily subsidise everyone to do it. The market will take care of it.
Even though we are in government funded pilot programs to do exactly that in some parts of the country.

A tough conservative call would be to cut the public service.
Unpopular? Yes. 1 in 5 people are directly employed by the public service and probably another 20%+ rely on government business to keep their private enterprise going.(At least. Government spending is huge in Australia - itâs just the nature of our economy)
Doing so would shift more people to fill vacancies in the private sector or enter higher education to retrain.
Its what a LNP government would probably be doing now if in power but would never admit it from opposition.
In turn putting downward pressure on interest rates as overall employment numbers weaken.
That would beget lower interest rates then another round of infrastructure spending to get the whole show going again.
Some of itâs happening with cuts to international student enrolments.
But thatâs going to have a negative effect eventually, flogging education is a large export earner and also doubles as a source of cheap service labour.

I sell new houses. 80% of customers would prefer gas and very few coming in asking for a full electric houses. Where it gets interesting is most of the migrants absolutely detest an electric cooktop. They need gas to cook the meals that they traditionally love.
This is absolutely an election issue. I can see them losing votes over this

They can still have a gas cook top. They have the option of bottle gas or paying for a gas connection.
I donât know where itâs at now, but so many rural towns and properties werenât connected to gas.
Thereâs also an education to be had , for example the capacity to adjust heat with induction stove tops and different pots.
I had thought that all new homes had no gas permitted from January 1st 2024
We converted from gas to fully electric and it is the best move ever. Costs us less and the induction cooktop is so much better than gas.

Phasing out new residential gas connections
Starting January 1, 2024, new gas connections for new dwellings, apartment buildings, and residential subdivisions requiring planning permits are being phased out.
This policy has been implemented through amendment VC250 to the Victoria Planning Provisions and all planning schemes in Victoria.

He claims that it will cost $60,000 to convert a home from gas. Must be a very large home with gas heating, cooking, hotwater, pool heater etc etc, and even then you would struggle to spend $60,000 or anything like it. We got rid of gas hot water, heating and cooking, and it cost about $20,000 fully installed, then we did also get rebates from Government and we now use less energy than before, as the cooking. water heating and home heating and colling is more more efficient.
With the Government incentives, it is good policy.
In the current plan announced by dâAmbrosio a few days ago, households can pay for a gas connection. However it would be priced at the individual , rather than shared , level. If itâs wanted solely for the cooktop, bottle gas ( as with BBQs) would be a viable option.

I beg to differ. This thread is an illuminating example of how conservatives invariably have opposing views on most political topics to progressives. Progressives tend to be left leaning, conservatives right leaning. Itâs the way it is.
