This is embarrassing.
Morrison is consciously trying to emulate Trump here, bare-faced lie his way through and rely on everyone being too polite to call him on it.
He neglected to consider that the USA is far more powerful and important that Australia. People will be cautiously polite to the crazy blowhard liar in charge of a superpower, but theyāll kick the ā ā ā ā out of the crazy blowhard liar in charge of a minnow nation off in an isolated corner of the Pacific. He forgets that other countriesā leader have internal politics too, and right now, many of those guys can only see political upside and not much to lose in reaming Australia.
