Australian Politics -- and YOU WILL LIKE IT

That’s the weird thing.
This meeting is about climate change.
And it’s been railroaded by a farked up submarine deal.

There is far more critique coming his way.

Sky news government media department saying Morrison’s could not have revealed what we were doing with USA and UK as it would have leaked out and could have jeopardise the deal, but also back morrison in saying they he let them know well in advance. Both of those things condrarict each other. They didn’t work this story out too well

Ted Baillieu let it be known that Tim is favoured by the Feds ( allegedly Frydenberg) and that Matthew Guy has little influence whether his career in politics should continue.

I love how ‘iT wOulD hAve JeoParDIsEd’ the deal.

By who and how?

What I find strange is that Dutton and Reynolds had a meeting with the French and talked about the importance of the submarine deal two to three months after the Liar from the Shire claimed he informed Macron.

Why do you think he is making a song and dance about it?

Normally if you had any self respect you wouldnt give the French comments the time of day. We ended the contract because the product and cost wasn’t meeting our needs. It’s business, move on.

But Morrison doesn’t have any self respect. He’s trying desperately to deflect attention away from his marketing “plan” on climate change. Which apparently has no substance.

Much like the man so it seems. Broad shoulders and all :joy:

Reckon that this contract was ended because of the offer from USA and UK. No subs will ever be built, we will build bases for the Yanks and we will give over our seas to them.

Absolutely extraordinary that he’s leaked selected Macron texts to the media. Instantly unfit to be PM ( already was, of course, but this one is clear cut.)

He’s a complete scumbag, but of more importance is that he can’t actually do the job properly, whether liked or not. Atrocious judgement, no ability to lead, diplomatic disaster, zero character.

Macron would have known the alternatives to the French diesel sub and could have offered a French nuclear sub, which would have been rejected as a deal had already been done with the UK and USA?

Even after all that…
He’s still a chance to win the next election.
This guy should lose in a landslide and the election coverage should call the election by around 7pm.

The French subs came as nuclear and we wanted them diesel. And they are no good to us nuclear because it requires us dealing with the waste.

Once a decision to go nuclear was made it seems to me that it was always going to be the US tech. End of life of the sub, the sub(or the nuclear bit) goes to the US for disposal.

Also think the French were missing deadlines and not delivering on their components.(that bit just heresay)

The issue was when they chose the sub deal originally the French sub was the best option on the table. The American type wasn’t available. And the French sub had the problem of nuclear waste.

Now that nuclear waste isn’t our problem with these new subs and it’s clear in the medium to long term we apparently need the capability, it’s cutting losses.

That’s my mug punter view anyway. Happy to stand corrected if someone is more informed?

Of course. Because we’ve ever increasingly devalued the worth of critical thinking and allowed it to be painted as a factional war of “intelligence”. It’s basically a megasized version of anti-vax, where a preheld position must be defended with whatever faux “research” can best be found in order to hide the reality.

It doesn’t matter if you generally vote Liberal, or Labor, or Greens, or whoever. Objectively, Morrison is completely unfit for the role. There is, of course, an argument to be made that neither are the other potentials. But that’s supposition, whereas Morrison has absolutely demonstrated that he’s not. We empower all of these arseholes by accepting the ■■■■ they serve up.

I just want to know when I can get my nuclear powered car.

Not sure that the Greens will attract a huge following for this event

Year after year we see the needless painful deaths of horses, including five in the last seven Melbourne Cups. This cruelty must stop.

Will you join the growing movement of people taking the #NupToTheCup pledge?

A horse is killed every three days on Australian race tracks. Thousands more die off-track each year, including many slaughtered for not turning their owners a profit.

Cruel practices like whipping and tongue tying happen every day in the horse racing industry, all for the sake of a bet. We even see horses subjected to electric shocks to get them to run faster.

Every year more and more people recognise animals never win when gambling profits are at stake.

In 2021, it’s clear that the public’s tolerance of this carnival of cruelty is wearing thin. A recent independent opinion poll found that a clear majority of Australians (55%) agree that racing animals like horses for gambling and entertainment is cruel.

The Australian Greens want an end to commercial horse racing and the elimination of intensive breeding of animals for gambling, competition or racing.

Say ‘Nup’ to the Cup this year to oppose the gambling-fuelled horse racing industry. Together, we can show people that carnivals of cruelty like the Melbourne Cup must end.

Maybe they should tell the North Sydney Greens about the Policy

The deadlines thing was largely spin. It took 12-18 months longer than originally estimated, but on a project of this complexity a longer design phase can actually be a good thing.

The budget was being met and the overall project timeline was tracking ok.

But making it sound like everything was going catastrophically wrong made it a better story domestically when they threw away a decade of work and $2 billion.

We made the change to align closer to the US and to project force closer to China. The rest of it was just spin to justify the exit.
