I get the distinct impression that Scomo is just making noises, noises of kicking the coal scuttle down the road. That is no real action, no real leadership, just keep on digging up coal, let others burn it and blame them.
That is the only explanation for refusing a more aggressive shorter term target and its concomitant need to actually reduce coal mining.
Yeah they should leave this stuff to PETA and focus simply on environmental issues.
I mean climate change ffs it’s one of the biggest issues that concern voters. If they stopped taking political stances on potentially polarising issues unrelated to the climate and the environment they could be winning a lot more votes from across all political divides.
I’ve always thought there’s a place for a environmentally minded political movement on the conservative side of politics for example.
Seems to make sense to me. Might one day rival the nationals vote and capture some inner city voters aligning with the ALP who seem to really put a high value on environmental issues, but may not fully align with everything else Labor may stand for.
