Australian Politics -- and YOU WILL LIKE IT

That expands nicely on what I was saying. It’s not surprising I agree with you…

I support this.

But what do I do, who do I vote for, how do I make a difference?

Agreed it’s part of the problem (anyone want to talk about the elephant in the room - population growth? No pollies do, that’s for sure). But towns like Lismore, Gympie, and the suburbs inundated in Brisbane etc aren’t new.

Dutton today talking about “The Ukraine”… how can you miss these details?!?

Similar to The Argentine…old terminology.

Switzerland in German is Der Schweiz.

*Die Schweiz

German for Ukraine is Die Ukraine, and for Turkey it’s Die Türkei

The Ukraine was the Russian term. It’s political, became just Ukraine on independence.
The Danes don’t like the German pronunciation of Copenhagen either ( got currency from the German occupation)

Exactly what you Chardonnay sipping liberal socialists rant about.

We have a flood or a fire and it is the poor bastards who built houses there aided by the capitalist developers who are at fault. And of course all Government are ■■■■■ for allowing anything to happen.

I do not disagree with your general sentiment about the state of our world and politics, but you lose the plot when you like so many others want to cast micro-blame on every farking event.

■■■■ happens sometimes and rain events in Qld have happened for a very long time, like fires in Victoria.

“Chardonnay sipping” ? I wouldn’t have tht cat’s pish in the house. If it’s any business of yours, I drink red, the redder the better, like Tas Bull. I’ll leave the Chardonnay sipping up to you and your pal Paul Tatchell.

I’m sorry you think the poor bastards who live on the flood plains are at fault. I’d never think that. They bought what they could afford. If the developers weren’t so greedy and the pollies weren’t so corrupt or lazy there might be a different story. It seems as if the only political party in this country which hasn’t a smell of corruption about it is the Greens. But give them time…

No. Tory Governments are kents for making shyt happen, with their greed and corruption. It’s the Labor governments who are kents for allowing shyt to happen, mainly through their pusillanimity and their laziness.

Here you go again. If you didn’t disagree etc., you wouldn’t be spluttering and spitting like this. So I “cast micro-blame [whatever that is !] on every farking event.” Utter tripe. If you’re going to disagree with what I post, that’s fine by me — but put your reading glasses on, and read a little more carefully, till you understand what I actually write, not what you imagine.

Whoopee ! You’ve noticed ! So why have a succession of Governments both Lieberal-Tory and your Labor lot, at State and Federal level, done Sweet Fock All to fix the problems of fire and floods — when we all know (or should know by now) what needs to be done in both situations ?

Put your brain in gear, ffs !

Paul doesn’t drink.

Tas Bull ?

I’m sure you’ll make up for him, by sinking his share of Council Chardonnay as well as your own, at your LG functions…

Actually I only used to drink beer at LG functions as the red wine was rather bad. And I was long gone from Council before the arrival of Tatchell. Have not attended a Council function for many years.

TAS Bull ? What is it ?

Too many Australians, led by their pollies, still believe the mantra, “Populate or perish.” Those days are gone, or should be. It’s time to put a stop to immigration (with the exception of close relatives of people already here and of refugees), for a few years. We’ve been using immigration to cover for our massive lack of investment in skills training, and to keep the wages and salaries artificially low. Time for us to invest in our own future, train our own people and make our own goods. When I was first at school I learnt that our population was huge — 10 million… Today it’s said to be 26 million. That’s a ridiculous increase in one lifetime.

I don’t know Gympie, but I know Lismore and Brisbane very well. The fact that many of the suburbs inundated in both towns are old rather than new, simply underlines the fact that building on flood plains has been going on for several generations. It has to stop, now ! And where possible, existing homes on flood plains should be moved to Higher Ground, with all due assistance from Governments.

That’s actually for the state election.

Yeh, I know. But equally applicable!

Both parties at state level have their negatives but I suspect Labor will be returned to power here
