Couldn’t we just give poor people the extra $80.

Fark that makes absolutely no sense.

We can’t afford to lift payments by $50 all while planning to pay rich people $80 instead.

The Gillard minority government was, in terms of legislative output, by far the most productive parliament of modern times. The Greens voted with Labor as a matter of course. If you’re referring to the ETS legislation then I reckon you know it was watered down crap, just like Scummo and his ICAC.

The rest I obviously have no knowledge of.

The problem is most within the ALP are like our old mate Bacchus, they seem to think everyone will flock to Labor despite having done very little to earn votes if anything they are losing people by the day. It’s not their fault though, they’ll think.

When they lose they’ll blame people like yourself. Even though they did zero to earn your vote, other than ‘say’ “we aren’t as bad as the other guys”

They need a massive cull from within.

small business owners with negative gearing that want lib lite but believe theyre delivering something meaningful

They’re pandering to the Right-wing faction…… it’s been this way for many years now. And pushing the belief that people can’t stomach voting for a left wing Government.

Perhaps you forget beni that Government is not just for you and me. Earning someone’s vote is very complex and it is never easy, and Labor take it seriously. Labor is not perfect.

Labor spends time and energy developing policy for our vision for the future, and the challenge is to bring as many as possible along with it. We all think differently and have differing needs, wants and opinions, and while you reckon Labor’s climate change policy is weak, many other think it goes too far, including many traditional Labor voters.

I could outline many other areas where policy is not to my total liking.

  • Industry policy
  • Foreign policy
  • Health
  • Education

But if my views were implemented Labor would lose many seats. You need to win power before you can change anything, and while Albo has not had the best start, give him a chance.

If you study elections all over Europe, you find even more diverse opinion, and hence it ends up with many less stable Governments.

I am not making excuses for Labor, but they will never be what you and many other on this BBlitz site expect. It is not a Leftwing Party, and in spite of what perce says, it never has been. It is a social Democrat party in a capitalist society having to deal with a very conservative and non-progressive population. You may reject that, but look around and see our Nation for what it is.

I have spent nearly 50 years trying my best to change the world, it is still one step at a time.

It’s this kind of thinking that, on a level, is responsible for the Trumps and Le Pens of the world.

When everyone can see that neoliberalism is failing catastrophically, and the “left wing” parties of the west refuse to pivot away from it even slightly, we’re left choosing between business-as-usual neoliberalism and fascist-adjacent populism (which is just enhanced neoliberalism).

More nonsense. Your expectations may never be met, as Labor is not a socialist party. Greens are closer but that is why they will never get more than about 10% of the vote.

Labor often gets closer to 30% than 40% and LNP always get around 40%.

Doesn’t that tell you something about voters.

Get into bed with Greens you cowards

This.

The Labor Green bashing is the biggest obstacle to a progressive government in this country.

More nonsense.

Even if you add all their votes together from last election they still lose. And Greens are a liability on many policy areas.

Perhaps to a party that can’t sell good policy.

Yep and obviously the Greens do a great job of it.

Clive might get more votes than them this election.

There are irreconcilable policy differences between the Greens and modern Labor, on coal, refugees, the dole, logging, and many many other things… Everyone on either side knows that if an ALP govt is going to be formed any time soon, they’ll be reliant on the Greens in the upper house. But the ALP inevitably pretend otherwise to try to keep the coal miners and Herald Sun readers even slightly onside. And the Greens will inevitably say that their support in parliament will go to ‘whichever of the major parties closer aligns to Greens policy priorities’ to avoid admitting to to fact that that in reality it’ll always go to the ALP because the Libs are a climate death cult.

There’s not really any upside to either Greens or ALP in formally coalitioning, or coming to any formal agreement right now. On the Greens side, in order to meet the ALP in the middle they’d have to give up so much of the very core of their platform that they’d probably lose half or two thirds of their vote to a breakaway ‘real Greens’ party on day 1. And the ALP formally coalitioning with the Greens would be wet dream time for the murdoch media whose propaganda bile assault would be orgasmic in its intensity, and a real problem for ALP members in coal mining etc areas, who the ALP have spent 20 years lying to about the industry’s future prospects.

The ALP hate the Greens and the Greens despise the ALP. But i think quietly the ALP know that they can’t do without the Greens, and the Greens know that the only influence they’ll have on policy is via the ALP, so they’ll hold their noses and work with each other. But just cos you work with someone doesn’t mean you want to get into bed with them.

So why the Fark do you bag me when I suggest the same.

@Humble_Minion has posted a reality statement.

I stumbled upon Sunrise this morning. It is a anti Albo frenzy. Going very hard against his performance to date and giving free passes to Scomo left, right and centre. Thankfully not many people watch breakfast tv.

Unfortunately a lot do, our medical center always have it blaring and the locals lap it up.
