Australian Politics -- and YOU WILL LIKE IT

PM under fire at presser today on the Warringah candidate ( she’s a woman, successful lawyer and I admire her) and on ICAC ( says ALP hasn’t introduced legislation or even a private member bill). Can’t trust ALP to bring forward a bill if in power - but LNP hasn’t brought forward a bill in three years and voted down the Haines bill without debate and using procedural tricks to do so.
Says NSW ICAC brought down the woman who saved Australia just because she chose the wrong boyfriend. But ICAC works if it’s bringing down the ALP crooks like Obeid, in any event it was the court system that brought them down ( not ICAC)
Says grants are they way Coalition responds to electorate views, working through its local MPs, public servants can’t be trusted as they are not elected. Does that mean the ADF should have no role in defence or that judges should not rule in the courts?), does that mean unelected Senators like Sarah Henderson should be ignored?
Journos don’t get to ask how many of the sports and car park grants emanated from local MPs.

Well that’s ridiculous.

Name a party whose leader has increased their standing at this point in the campaign?

Bandt has done well this campaign. But unless you’re reading the Guardian or following politics-focused accounts on Twitter, would you know about it?

Albo is daft. . . The ALP has had years to prepare.

We’re at risk of the ALP snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

First week of campaign MSM doing gotchas on ALP, no criticism of Government until Bevan Shields did a big hit on LNP ICAC ( given less prominence in other Fairfax, including Victoria where Alcon could be more influenced by Costello); Albanese gave the appearance of working from the Morrison agenda, he is less practised in pressers than Morrison, doesn’t have the MSM in his pocket.
Today, ALP performing a lot better, not on the defensive on journo Qs, actually promoting policies which resonate, like integrity.

Like most of the LNP, fantastic campaigners, ■■■■ house at actually running the country to make it a better place for everyone.

Why doesn’t the PM roll out Gladys, the woman who saved Australia ( when he said he had saved 40k lives in his pandemic management) ? Also the woman who said that’s what politicians do in response to a Q on grant rorts.
He also said that when there is a problem he fixes it. But what if the problem is of his own making?

ALP hasn’t had years to legislate, stuff things up, to right wrongs.

No, because media sucks. Politics sucks. The debate being on Sky tells you everything about both.

Should Albanese be performing better?
Yes.
Is the coverage fair and reasonable?
No.

I mean…you’d think he might be taken to task a little more over his captain’s pick saying one in two trans men are sex offenders….
And even here, people seemed to be so much more interested in the stats for cis men….
I mean…really?

Edit: look, I get that cis men have it unbelievably tough…

Time for MSM journos to get off their self promotion bandwagon and colluding among themselves to share the gotchas.

I don’t know why Albo doesn’t invite all the journalists around for drinks.

Because the next day’s headline would be ALBANESE ATTEMPTS TO BRIBE HIS WAY TO OFFICE; INNOCENT JOURNALISTS PLIED WITH ALCOHOL

And this is why Plibersek needs to be unleashed.

Read somewhere that Albanese also does drinks with MSM journos embedded in his campaign - apparently a long-standing tradition in election campaigns, with everything off the record ( no pics, no audio)

I’m not sure that Plibersek would want to be unleashed. She’s had enough shyt over the years from MSM about her husband, the top NSW public servant who used to be a junkie twenty-odd years ago.

Maybe what The ALP needs is a leader who isn’t shyt-scared of the MSM, and who would have the balls to refuse to do the debate on Sky or any other Murfuck company — who would insist on having the debate on a neutral not-for-profit platform, the ABC.

Gotta take one for the team.
And they will be scared to go her.

Liberals and Morrison

I’m not getting that vibe.

Albo sinking does not equal Morrison rising.
