Labor raises alarm after findings of three-month project that cost $541,750 sent âstraight to the prime ministerâs officeâ
GOODBYE MEDICARE
Unlike the vast majority on this thread who support Labor and want Labor to get in ( which is OK by me ) I want the Coalition out.
Thats why I am angry that after the last 3 years, the federal ALP has not been able to find a more ( and I hate this word in politics) âcharismaticâ leader, with definite electoral appeal. He might be an extremely genuine and principled person, I donât really know, but he is coming across as more bland than hummus soup and the press are chopping him off at the knees at every opportunity.
If the Liberal and National coalition get back in its going to be a disaster, because they will see their win as commendation and support of all their policies for the last 3 years.
Maybe keeping out of the public eye for three years wasnât the ideal preparation for an election campaign.
If LNP win its cause people who are turned off and tuned out of politics for three years decided to base their vote on six weeks of campaigns.
Its akin to losing every game of the season but being brainwashed on best and fairest night.
I think youâll find that position is not actually a binary one
Unfortunately, many people donât understand that competence, integrity and ability to do the day-to-day job of governing well should be more important than âcharismaâ. If I am getting my car fixed or my teeth drilled or having an operation, I am more interested in the personâs competence than their charisma.
Albo has some characteristics that suggest he could be a very effective and competent prime minister, if he is given the chance.

The sample size for this poll (n=1404) is about 14% smaller than their last three polls (xĚ=1631) , meaning that it should be discussed as having a greater level of uncertainty.
But I donât know if that has been mentioned anywhere.
So stop getting sick or you will die.
But you know, how the campaign is going.
And of course weâll hear nothing about this one.
There is irony based on my previous post.
IDK whether the ALP made the correct call on why it lost the 2019 election and what should do to manage the current campaign. But it does not have a lot to run with apart from health. Education and job security.
It got itself wedged on foreign and defence policy ( including defence misspending ), refugees ( including the massive amounts spent on offshore detention and Xmas Island, which is mostly used for criminal deportees and refugees kept away from everyone) plus on raising taxes; on climate change as well.
So, fairer socially progressive domestic policies, within financial constraints of not reallocating the funds wasted on dogwhistling defence and refugee policies.
Not sure how you could think that Newscorpse is biased. I heard on the ABC today that Murdoch wasnât backing any candidate this election.
Apart from opposing a Federal ICAC, to which most other parties and Independents give priority.
I think youâll find that position is not actually a binary one
Its just like you can be glass half full or glass half empty.
I agree. But elections are about getting your party elected. Going back to last century, Labor got 2 pms in; Hawke, charismatic, won Government, Keating not charismatic, but a really good street fighter, hung on to the Hawke legacy on the back of true believers but was bundled out by Howard in a massive swing against him. If Keating had run first, he probably would have lost on charisma, even though Frasers Government had run its course. IMO.
This might be mirrored here, Albo is not Hawke, nor is he a brilliant head kicker. He is a bit vanilla.
âa bit vanillaâ?
What he lacks in vanilla, he makes up for in beige
biased. I heard on the ABC today that Murdoch wasnât backing any candidate this election.
Probably a bit bored with Australian politics these days, and spends more time complaining about his turn down service. Trouble is, Jerry keeps turning him down.
I mean, if thatâs what Murdoch said, then I guess we must take him at his word, regardless of what his tabloids just happen to look like.
Arenât people smart enough to make up their own minds. Whatâs it matter what some crazy old man puts in his paper?
