Australian Politics -- from 2022 Federal Election

What amazes me is that folks can see these two barely polished turds regurgitate rancid platitudes that address precisely nothing that people care about and not think, “I wonder what the other parties have to say”.

Because they won’t have the PM, or…y’know…a single minister?

Anyone notice which political ads were showing on the commercial breaks?
Was it even or one sided?
I wasn’t watching the breaks, but noticed in one of them was a Lib ad.

I assumed you were asking a gq.

I think Albanese needs airtime otherwise Morrison will get endless promos right across partisan news and radio and Albanese will get none on the truely independent ones.

There’s a little bit of pro ALP news and current affairs but not much and online only.

Has Uhlman no shame?

Ulhman doesn’t think he did anything wrong, therefore nothing to be ashamed about.

Except the ABC is still a widely trusted institution. Much more trusted than any commercial network, and much, MUCH more trusted than either major party. The ALP needs to be using that.

Albanese’s minions (not him, he has to put on his Statesman Face) need to be loudly asking at every opportunity why Morrison is hiding from the ABC. It’s not just the debate, he’s been refusing to go on the 7:30 report all campaign. They need to be getting him to repeatedly deny that he wants to privatise the ABC - the libs are stuffed full of ex-IPA types and privatisation of the ABC has been IPA policy for ages. Tim Wilson, I{'m pretty sure, is on record wanting to privatise the ABC - I bet that goes down well in HIS electorate. Make him defend it. Ask why, if the libs are seriously committed to the ABC, they refuse to go on it.

But jeez, the ALP were so fkg wimpy they refused to even veto fkg Ulhmann as a debate host.

If 48% of people who watched this nonsense are still voting ALP then…

Well Albanese has. He did Q and A. And I think he will if he hasn’t already do 7.30

There will be abc debates when there is an alp government

I don’t know why it is surprising. The LNP is the party of business.

And business well runs commercial media. (Even though it’s mostly Rupert it’s not unexpected even if he was hands off)

Morrison has not been on ABC Melbourne mornings at all, ever, since Virginia Trioli took over as host, in (I think) 2020. That is a long time to have avoided one of the highest rating radio shows in the second largest media market in the nation.

SMH had 6 of their columnists scoring the debate…Albanese 5 Morrison 0 Draw 1

Wow what a 5 forehead on nine!

Is there such a thing as a negative score draw?

Morrison won’t go on QandA where genuine Qs get asked by voters across a spectrum. Albanese acquitted himself well there.
The NPC debate between O’Connor and Dutton was a fair contest because it was conducted under NPC rules ( although Dutton did himself no favours in sneering at the Guardian journo and trashing the Guardian)
I would prefer a debate between Ministers and Shadow Ministers, where concrete policies can be teased out.
Would love to see a debate on education between Plibersek and Tudge, between Shorten and Robert on NDIS; between King and Ruston on Health and Aged Care.

Can’t believe anyone would watch the debate and then base their decision on it.

But I’m onto my 4th Singapore sling so maybe not the best judge.

I’d rather a debate between the Greens and the Nationals to be honest.

I reckon Bandt vs Barnaby would be a cracker.

It would depend if you had one particular issue you were really passionate about and they differed on it.

That didn’t really happen, it was a shouty fizzer of a debate.

I’m a bit of a political cynic but if Albos ALP actually delivers a proper federal icac and nothing else in 3 years I’d be happy.

Then there’s a better political system and if there is a better system, better politicians.
