Australian Politics -- from June 2023

Media have called off their dogs on Plibersek, accepting that her reaching out to Higgins was connected to her own daughter’s experience.

Liaisons in parliament on all sides of politics is not uncommon occurrence I’m told

Liaisons with rent boys in the prayer room?

I don’t know anything about rent boys. Please tell

The RBA ■■■■■ me Lowe comes across as schadenfreude.

And the board should be sacked for calling inflationary “transitory”. I remember that because I thought they had rocks in their head for not aggressively hiking rates when inflation clearly started.

What economics book does this concept come from?

This is the death wish.

Andrew Bolt had speculated publicly that Kitching had engaged with Teena McQueen then VP of Liberal Party, about being bullied within her Party. She did not however make a complaint within established structures.
Bacchus would be the most informed, but as I understand it, there was some sort of internal factional power struggle in the Vic ALP, the right wing faction including Kitching and Shorten and HSU ( which Kitching had left after an inquiry) .
Facts in their context might be helpful.

Of course, when Peter Slipper took up Gillard’s offer to become Speaker ( connected to her capacity to pass legislation in minority government, including NDIS) there was no political weaponising of his alleged behaviour to a staffer.

Alleged Liberal MPs having prayer meetings with paid boys to give a happy ending.

Pretty well reported at the time.

Leave the poor millionaires alone.
Recent French research indicated that French billionaires paid less tax than millionaires .
Macron is offering tax cuts to the middle class, I suppose he will do cut backs in social welfare to make up the shortfall.

Kim Kitching was an abrasive type of person, which perfectly matched her hubby. She was also hard working, passionate about her job and was never scared to right the wrongs even if it was Members of her own Party. I didn’t know her well, but been a friend of Andrew since he was 5 years old. Senator Kitching was being shafted by Members of her own faction as she would not toe their Factional line, believe it or not, she was heavily influenced by her own conscience !!

She reminded me of Liberal Senator Alan Missen, who had friends on both side of Parliament, and tried hard to work with others to get a solution. In Kimbo’s case though, if you crossed her then the wrath of a very vengeful person woulld fall on your head. I was a bit amused at the thought of her being bullied, as I never saw her take a backward step, or lose a staring match.

Watching Senate Committees of Labor in Opposition , I got the impression that Wong, Gallagher and Keneally were the troika and that other ALP Senators didn’t feature much on the big issues. Some like Watts, Ayres and Farrell have been rewarded.
Now the star performers not in Government are Shoebridge and the two Pococks (Barbara and David, no relation). Shoebridge was a terrier when he was in the NSW Upper House.

Just out of interest, what age bracket do you put Boomers in?

Ok, I’ll keep reading your posts with that in mind.

On a side note I had to show a Franco Cotso add on YouTube the other day to explain a joke to a 30 year old. I’m obviously a Boomer then. :slightly_smiling_face:

thanks i guess.

spelling it cotso does make you a boomer

Boomers - Born 1946-1964
Gen X 1965-1980
Millennials 1981-1996
Gen Z 1997-2012

Gen Z going to save us all. Pre boomers of no account.
Boomers born in 1964 wouldn’t have had much of a chance of fee free University ( introduced 1974) as Dawkins replaced it with HECS in the eighties. And not a lot of other boomers would have had access straight from finishing secondary school.
