Morrison doesn’t give one tiny ■■■■ what coverage he gets on Danish media. In fact, he may welcome the deserved panning he gets, cos it lets him pretend to be fearlessly standing up for Australian coal billionaires interests against them mucky foreigners who talk all funny like. The guy does absolutely nothing that isn’t directly related to his own electoral prospects.
The only thing that’ll bother him is if it looks like there’s going to be a carbon tariff applied on Australian exports.
Yep. That red-brick building is the Kew Tram Depot, on the corner of Barkers Road and High Street, Kew. (One side of Barkers Road is Kew, the other is Hawthorn.) The Beehive pub is across High Street, behind the camera. I know the area because I grew up in a semi-detached house in High Street, in easy walking distance.
If ever there was a series of actions to make the EU place tariffs on Australian goods. This is it.
France hates us. At our own doing.
The UK has left the EU. They won’t have any influence, even if they wanted to protect us.
The US has little time for us after we cozied up to Trump and then shafted Biden on AUKUS.
We make a farce of the climate actions of the world, acting in bad faith to protect our coal exports that make meaningless the sacrifices the rest of the world are making.
We are seen as the enemy. The world knows we only care about our trade balance. It is both a brilliant diplomatic move and a domestic political masterstroke to put trade penalties on the bad actor that is Australia.
I cannot stress the unadulterated fury I feel towards this government.
Their blatant lies and misdirection. Taking credit for the work of others that only happened because their sabotage failed. Then making absurdly optimistic claims that technology will miraculously save us, after cutting R&D to the bone.
We will have to rebuild our scientific capabilities from scratch.
We have lost a decade of planning and investment. The only way to catch that up is to rush and overspend.
And critically, because we won’t implement a carbon tax, all the costs of this will come from general revenue. That will directly reduce the money available for services to you and me.
Everyone from both sides of politics should feel an intense anger at the burden we are about to shoulder due to this incompetent delusional morally compromised charade of a government.
He promised Biden that the French knew that the sub deal was being cancelled. And then he broke up with the French President by text message. And then the French withdrew their ambassador from the US.
I count that as Scomo well and truly shafting Biden.
Ok thanks for the explanation… I knew he lied (that’s what he does) but didn’t think it was being “shafted” which implies that somehow our country had some gain against the US. As if that would ever happen!
At least Joe could take some consolation that he has not been lied to as much or as blatantly as we have been.
Here’s an article about Labor’s election chances, or lack of them, that I’ve just come across. I don’t agree with everything it claims, but most of it seems right to me. It’s worth reading.
Come off it, Foxy - you’re as peed off with Albo’s “leadership” as the rest of us are. Yet you’re in a position to stir the possum from within the Party, but you refuse to do so — for all the usual tired old reasons. When are you and your frozen friends going to see that your inaction is only condemning the country to another session of Scumbag and his moronic thieving mates ? It’s starting to look like never…
“There are none so blind as those who will not see.”
Meanwhile, lawyers for a group challenging Sutton’s Orders for mandatory vax for workers ( as contrary to the Vic Human Rights Charter) have accused the Victorian Judge of bias.
The Judge has refused to stand down.
I will try and explain it again. The Leader of the Federal Parliamentary Caucus is Anthony Albanese, who was the only candidate after the last Federal Election. He can be sacked, but only if 70% of Caucus vote on it. Then you need at least two candidates in order for an election to happen where ALP Members get to vote. I have no control over any of this, other than one vote.
It is my understanding that none of your preferred candidates would vote against Comrade Albanese at this time, so unless he resigns there will be no change of Leadership.
Reality is perce, that no matter who is Labor Caucus Leader, the ALP will not become the socialist party that you want. It is not and has never been in our DNA, no matter what we may wish for. Labor is a socially progressive democratic party that supports workers, their families and Trade Unions, but is part of the Capitalist system that we live under.
I fought the good fight for 50 years, and as a slow learner have realised I have lost.
However all is not lost, as history shows, Australia is always a better place under a Labor Federal Government despite its socialist shortcomings. Our economy, environment, foreign policy and all those supports that Australians need are better under Labor.
So get over your fixation with who is Leader and look at the broader picture. Ask yourself, who would be the better PM, Albo or the other bloke? This LNP Government is the worst and most corrupt in my experience, so spread the word on this, not something that will not happen, unless Comrade Albanese resigns.
Will forever amuse me, since every law student in the last 15 years can tell you after their very first subject that the point of the Charter is not to establish unalienable rights, but to lay out rights that should be considered when passing new laws.
