Australian Politics, Mark II

As a Christian friend said to me one day, he never knew Scomo was a Christian, his policies do not show that.

Second groper on the grassy knoll! Back and to the left!

Come on BF. You’re better than that.

I really enjoy BMF’s input on this thread (sorry to talk about you in the third person) but this particular subject seems to have touched a raw nerve.
I too find it hard to see where Foley has too much to complain about other than his political opposition. In fact the Foley revelation under parliamentary privilege may have been a Pyrrhic victory as people are rightfully asking why the story was raised in the first place when the victim wanted the event unreported.
More to the woman in question, the fact the offence took place is corroborated as is her request that the event go unreported. It’s hard to see her as anything but the victim in the whole sordid saga. As touched on by HM the bigger issue here is the damage done to women whose only sin is to be the victim in an event that others have chosen to exploit. The argument here seems to have devolved into a discussion on what are worse, sharks or lions?

Maybe that is all very true.

Apart from my personal distaste for Journalists; and if I catalogued the reasons for that you may understand, but I just refer it also to the treatment of J Hird, I have no like for Foley, and it has not been reported but he allegedly does have some form on matters like this.

However it is wrong, even for bottom feeders like Trump to be found guilty without due process, and it disturbs me that the normally sane like HM and IT, can form a lynch party.

It’s apparently known as “prosperity theology”. Something that is endemic in certain Pentecostal circles (of which out PM is in). The crux of it is if you’re well off or rich then you’re blessed by god. The thought then is that it’s easy to reconcile that if you’re poor or disandvantaged you’re the opposite of that. With that in mind it’s probably quite easy to lock kids with nothing up in prison cells and take food donations away from hungry people around Christmas time. God hasn’t favoured these people to begin with.

Quite how this is supposed to be in the same universe as what the teachings of the biblical saviour read as must require some impressive mental gymnastics. Probably easy to dismiss when you’re loaded.

I can’t disagree with your last paragraph. Everyone has a right to their day in court and due process.

Quite conveniently argued by religious ministers that are absolutely loaded. Please donate to my mega church, yes I’m wealthy beyond all belief, but hey its gods plan.

Yeah I highlighted that earlier when Scomo first took power. It is not much different to the Indian caste system that teaches you are a low scum because you were pathetic in a past life so I can treat you like crap as you deserve it.

“Oh you are sick? Well that’s because you are a sinner, repent and you will be healthy wealthy and wise”.

Utterly perverse set of teachings.

Interestingly Jesus actually dealt with that in a passage. A guy was born blind and the teachers of the day said this happened because your parents were sinners. Jesus called it bullocks and healed the guy.

They actually really say nauseating stuff like “Jesus died so that we can be rich”.

I think the original Biblical sentence ended with “in spirit” but they conveniently cut that bit out, which is appropriate because they certainly do not have that.

I actually know of someone who admires the guy the more he learns about this set of beliefs. It’s a form of Christianity he can apparently get around. Revolting.

It’s actually American like, … exactly the opposite of what Jesus was about.

He was a FKN Socialist you fukwitz, … if not, a Communist.

At least his Brother John and the disciples lived as communists in his “light” and teachings.

It’s really farken bizarre how right wingers both here and abroad (USA! USA!) have managed to do this with a straight face.

If there is a Hell, … that’s where they are all headed.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has reversed a funding cut to one of Australia’s largest hunger-relief organisations.

The National Farmers’ Federation, the community sector and Labor yesterday slammed the Government’s plans to slash Foodbank’s funding in half from January.

Yesterday I promised to review the Foodbank decision. I have listened and decided to increase the Food Relief budget by $1.5 million over the next 4.5 years and have asked the Minister to place more focus on relief in drought affected areas.

“I have listened and decided to increase the food relief budget by $1.5 million over the next 4.5 years and have asked the Minister to place more focus on relief in drought-affected areas,” Mr Morrison posted on Twitter.

good on him.

‘I have listened to the word, “farmers.” Originally I thought I was just making cuts to funding for homeless people, but now that someone has said the word “farmers” I have listened and increased funding.’

Yeah Nah, … fark him.

Simply should not have done it at all … not even entertained the thought, … and is only responding to backlash.

Absolute penny pinching carnt of a thing to do in the 1st place, … and he’s proven himself totally out of touch and/or farking stupid not to realise that the reaction would be exactly as it was.
