Australian Soccer Thread (A-League/FFA Cup/Socceroos/Matildas) (Part 2)

That’s unfair, in a few weeks there’ll be no reason to be talking about them. Of course people will continue to care, and of course many will tune in to their appearances in future tournaments, especially World Cups.

As a fan of Football in Australia the biggest disappointment as with the bandwagon when the socceroos do well is that all of 5% of them will carry their support to their local A League club

go and google a league fixture right now and see what it comes back with

Well yeah that doesn’t help.

Then the week after the Mens WC they make the Grand Final Announcement

The tournament isn’t over.

They still have one more match to play.

Then the Olympic qualifying fixture starts in October.

Just heard the Fed square live site has been shut down, well done ■■■■■■■■■.

Just because a few Karens and Old Grumpy Boomers got spooked by some orange smoke.

Last night was unreal.

We are so soft in this country

Heard someone on radio this morning saying metal fencing was being picked up and being launched into the crowd of people.

Melbourne Victory fans, no doubt.

They ought to be wedging those flares up these peckerheads’ freckles and setting them off.

Utter pond scum!

I reckon this is completely wrong. The number of kids who took an interest in the Matties was like nothing else l have seen. Young girls in particular now have a team of football playing role models to aspire to. Various govts. have also announced that they are kicking in big $$$s to women’s sport. The WC has kicked interest off and it will only be built on from here.

Absolutely did not happen

That sounds like something a person who threw some fencing would say. :eyes:

You seen my forum footy photos?

I ain’t picking up no fence

Wrong Nino. They are absolutely on the map and Sam Kerr, Mary Fowler and Mackenzie Arnold are just huge.

More will follow them as they play overseas as well. The only thing that holds soccer back is the dills who run the game in Australia and the high cost for kids to play.

The A league really needs to get its act together and capitalise on all this great publicity for football

There is great potential for football in this country. But league just continues to shoot itself in the foot

Yeah, the league is run by amateurs unfortunately.
Personally I don’t mind the A-League and whilst I don’t mind watching Adelaide United and will “support” them I don’t have the love for them that I do Adelaide City and when City were cast aside I did lose some interest for a while. Even now I’m a member at City and go and watch far more of their games than United and there is still a decent pocket of supporters that feel the same way. Obviously the A-League are trying to attract the newer fans which is great but I’m just a little sad that the folks who have supported soccer all their life in Australia were cast aside and a lot of good people lost to it at the highest level in Australia

Yeah these tools lighting flares need to cut that ■■■■ out. I suspect the hooligan culture still puts off some people.

No surprise they are the same dimwits involved with the AAMI Park pitch invasion.
