I think youâre underestimating the withdrawal of AK had on our defence
It was humming in the last 3-4 matches which is reflected in the clean sheets but last night there was a disconnect at the back which cost us 2 x goals

Donât think this was much of a factor but the Poms absolutely played to the refâs (lack of) whistle a lot better than we did. And seemed unwilling to play through front half of midfield, going Pirlo long balls at most opportunities. kerrâs goal was great but really youâre not going to win many games relaying on that sort of effort.
A gulf between the two teams IMO.

Iâd say it cost us all 3 goals.
They were all very basic errors.
Perhaps Kennedy might have made the difference, but I thought Polkinghorn was very sound in the back.

Lauren James might have trouble getting a start in the final with Toone taking her place well.
Our defence reminded me of the farcical scenes played out against Nigeria. So much misunderstanding between the backs and their covering of the opposition. Out harassed and just some plain dumb football. England deserved the win.

Tv viewers arenât measured on âreachâ though, so itâs a bit misleading that number. That counts someone that flicked it on for 20 seconds. Not saying the average probably didnât beat Cathy too though.

No one will care about the Maltidas in a few weeks i doubt that aussies will watch them at the next world cup

It was pretty telling seeing thousands of fans streaming out as soon as the game was over. I mean sure, we lost. But stick around and see them off.
