Football Australia confirm 8 foundation teams for National Second Tier (keepup.com.au)
Go Fark yourself FFA
Looking after NSW clubs again. Hardly any of those pissant, peasant clubs have the history, prestige or support that City would get but once again they get looked after
It will have to expand if it succeeds but only VIC and NSW is really â â â â . Hardly a national competition
Iâm so â â â â â â â happy
Up South!
Second division more interesting than the A League, derbyâs galore
Surely Adelaide city and the Brisbane strikers backed bid are next cabs off the rank
Happy with the choice of Victorian clubs. A Preston vs South Melb game would be spicy. Any reason Melbourne Knights missed out?
It was as a kid.
Then as I grew older i realisd how much I detest Sydney.
apart from being extremely broke, no
Rough
Wouldâve loved to have seen them in
ANNOUNCE BRUNSWICK JUVENTUS
From what I understand there will definitely be at least 2 sides chosen to start the season but the worry for the FFA is the funding as they donât want to tip in too much and therefore Div 2 clubs need to fund travel and other expenses every second week so hence why they are trying to keep travel down by being a NSW/VIC comp in essence
i do want to see this league get up. i really do.
but thereâs about 25% of me that envisions a zoom meeting in mid-2026 where theyâll go âoh yeah, thatâs why we ditched the nsl, i forgot about all thatâ
Damn effniks
Auckland A League team will be announced later today
An American billionaire who owns English Premier League club Bournemouth has secured the licence for the new Auckland franchise that will join the A-League next year.
Bill Foley, who has an estimated worth of $US1.6bn ($A2.5bn), has been named by the Australian Professional Leagues as the âpreferred bidderâ for the new Auckland club joining the A-League menâs and womenâs competitions in the 2024-25 season.
Foley is managing general partner of Black Knight Football and Entertainment, which owns Bournemouth and French top-flight outfit FC Lorient.
The 78-year-old Texan also owns American ice hockey team Vegas Golden Knights in his roles as lead investor, chairman and chief executive officer of the Black Knight Sports and Entertainment consortium.
Foley already has links with New Zealand as the owner of multiple Kiwi businesses, including Foley Wines Ltd, a restaurant group and the Wharekauhau lodge on the South Wairarapa Coast.
I can see this franchise being NZ biggest club quite quickly.
So there now will be relegation in the a league?
Why do we have another NZ team coming in. 1 is fine but we donât need 2
Donât think so. Thatâs a long way off still
