Thats about as immoral as it gets. Horrific
how could dan andrews let BRS take the fall like this?
Wtf are these people on? He is “on the balance” of probabilities, a murderer. One day, chances are it’ll be beyond reasonable doubt. I admit, there are certain things on Sky that I agree with, but it’s a true reminder of how poisonous virtually all TV stations are. Truly pathetic of them.
Should also be an indictment on the SAS.
As its probably reasonable to presume BRS is much a product of the SAS culture as the SAS culture is a product of someone like him.
Yes and no. SAS soliders raised the concerns.
Yeah but someones promoted BRS right? He was a leader?
A corporal. That’s not a high rank.
One above private.
Two actually. Not a high rank, but in the SASR CPLs and SGTs are patrol commanders and carry a much higher level of responsibility and influence. That’s a main reason why the cultural issues came into being within the regiment.
I’d heard that it’s a high hurdle to be accepted into the SAS.
Selection is extremely tough, but they’ve changed their focus significantly in the last 5 years. The whole regiment has been significantly overhauled as well and a lot of the NCOs from the Afghan period have been moved on.
The guys a man mountain. Hes gonna have some influence
Especially if he’s on top of it and threatening to kick you off.
Again, much like earlier in this thread, I will defer from an outright opinion. I just want to remind everyone that this is not maybe the slam dunk that it is being touted as. Yes, he lost his case on the “Balance of Probabilities”. Remember though, so did the football club we all follow and I still believe the vast majority of us feel that was an injustice. Balance of Probabilities is nowhere near Beyond Reasonable Doubt and there is every chance that if this goes to a Military or Criminal trial that he may be found not guilty of any of it, much like when actual lawyers and judges looked at the evidence in the Essendon case they threw it out for lack of actual evidence.
I will again say, that if he does get tried (Military or Criminal) and found guilty, I will be quite happy to label him a criminal. Until then I reserve judgement. As for his VC, I agree that it would not be a good look for him to keep it, but still not certain he should lose it. Totally conflicted, based solely on the premise that his retaining it would tarnish the award, yet his actions in winning it had nothing to do with the other stuff he is accused of.
I look forward to the continuing drama.
I remember when Yumi Stynes made a fairly harmless joke about this psychotic ape annd almost had her career destroyed in retaliation, turns out she was ahead of the curb.
You leave Dan alone. It was the slippery steps that caused BRS to fall.
Ok… I’ll bite.
Nobody on the BRS side can explain to me why other soldiers would risk their own reputation, their career and possible incarceration just to make him look bad.
If you can explain that then I’ll agree that it’s not open and shut, to me it’s far beyond reasonable doubt at the moment.
Is there anything that cannot be compared with the you know what in here?
Spanish Inquisition?
This from an ABC article to me highlights how comprehensively he lost the case and what a ■■■■■■■ piece of ■■■■ he is:
“Now the 44-year-old’s reputation has been lowered so far, a Federal Court judge found, that two unproven allegations of battlefield murder weren’t enough to defame him.”
People do stupid things for stupid reasons all the time. Here are three examples of people I know personally.
A family member committed a crime, admitted to me they had done it, went to prison for 18 months then spent the next 5 years trying to prove they hadn’t.
A workmate made a raftload of poor financial decisions after coming back from overseas with a pocketful of cash and ■■■■■■■ it up against the walll in a three month period. They then tried to claim the workplace they were based at was responsible for their drinking and submitted a claim to be financially compensated for it.
I know of one woman who hated another so much, that when deployed overseas, she had sex with the other womans husband, then called her directly after to tell her about it. She admitted outright that she only slept with the bloke to ■■■■ the other bird off. Destroyed a marriage with three kids involved, just out of spite.
So no, I can’t explain why other soldiers might say what they did, any more than you can, because we don’t know what their motives were.
As I said, I will reserve judgement until after a criminal trial, if one eventuates.
