Ben Rutten - Back to the grindstone (Part 2)

I know it’s an analogy, but in the case of Brasher it actually isn’t too far from reality. Needs to be moved on.

The team Buckley coached to 17th is now sitting in 5th. No thanks.

He also got them to a Grand Final

I just want us to be ruthless and sack him for Clarkson.
Clarko would probably want Dodorro gone so we will never hire him.

Xavier too

Out of Norf, GWS and Us… Clarko would definitely pick us Id say. His probably waiting until he gets a phone call

It would be nice if they did make a ruthless call that’s in the best interest of the football club rather that act out of self-interest…

I think that was a combination of staleness of coach with group and off field circus.

I’d be confident his second time around at another club will be successful. Think he’s a pretty good student of the game and a clear and professional communicator.

While he may have question marks remaining regarding his player relationships (in light of the Lumumba recordings), I think he’d be type of person to make sure that he improved in that area.

I think if the Bombers show any improvement on this year (not hard) Rutten will be extended next year for a further 2 years. I don’t think any of your choices will end up at Essendon

Coach: Ben Rutten
Senior Assistant: Blake Caracella/Ross Lyon
Mids: Dale Tapping
Forwards: Gia
Backline: Fletcher

I’d be pretty ■■■■■■ off if clarko wants to come to Essendon and we stick with a bloke that hasn’t been able to implement a team defence in 4 years at the club.

If he wants to coach us like it has been rumoured then unfortnely for Ben you move him on

Not going to happen with Campbell and Brasher around.

My best mate is a big hawks fan and wanted Clarkson gone the past few years, i said to him ‘do you think we should get Clarkson’ and to my surprise he said ‘absolutely he’d be superb at Essendon’. I asked him why the change in tune and he said he simply wanted him gone at the hawks because they needed a fresh voice and to rebuild, at a team like Essendon he would be a gun coach with our list.

This is the most sense Barrett and McClure have ever spoken about us.

100% that any review should NOT consider these “dead season” wins. It’s about what happened in the first 12-14 weeks of the season. But guess what? It will ALL be about this change of form. And that is what will be used to justify him sticking around, which is an absolute joke.

Also agree with McClure that we have an obligation to have a crack at Clarko. Doesn’t matter whose feelings are hurt in the process either.

Maybe the club has learnt of what’s happened in the first part of the year and are now putting in the things to correct what’s gone wrong

You know what @Finding_Nino , if this was a one off I’d tend to agree with you.

There is a serious and alarming trend of this same thing happening for too long now. Too many years and no lessons ever learnt.

Our season was over at Quarter Time in Round 1. How does that happen? That’s what I would be reviewing…

I disagree with this. There is no obligation just because a coach that was good, but may well no longer be, is on the market. In that case this obligation applies to a lot more clubs than just us.

McClure is happy to beat the drum though, he benefits the most if it all goes to ■■■■ which I think in all likelihood it would.
