Yep
I think he needs us to have firmly entrenched in the 8 and winning a final to get a contract

are the usual suspects ready to admit weâve significantly changed the gameplan yet?
watching the replay now. your lying to yourself if you think its âtweakedâ or so forth
its changed. a lot
Been a theme in Ruttens pressers the last few weeks âwinning the contestâ and itâs showing.
Can some one post the article please?
Itâs Robbo. Itâs barely worth the pixels itâd be projected on.
Now the Clarko speculation can be put to bed for next year.
can we gurge any robbo articles? if we want 1 line analysis we got that covered. some of us even passed high school
Thanks Wander
This supposed met/exceeded ambitions in 2nd half of year doesnât just allow 1st half to be forgotten.
Saints & GC wins were good, albeit Saints were badly out of form. Swans would have put us away if kicked straight. Bris had half their side out and could have won that also.
The Clarkson decision if there is one has prob already been made.
Even if we do jag a few more wins for the year still not so sure club believes Rutten is man for the job to get us into a grand final and hopefully win it.
A Mark Harvey being turfed for Ross Lyon esque scenario could be coming up.
I agree that a review is still required however
canât use the fact that Swans didnât kick straight otherwise they would have won. If thatâs the case, we should have had early wins against Brisbane and Pies because we had more scoring shots.
Saints being out of form shouldnât be a factor either. We played both Richmond and Eagles once they found some kind of form. We play them earlier, we have a few extra wins. Doesnât really mean much. Swings and roundabouts.
Even 4 weeks ago, the belief that weâd sack Rutten for Clarkson is very aggressive, I just couldnât see it happening.
We havenât been aggressive with our convictions since we sign Hird & Thompson as coach. And everything that Iâve heard from the club hierarchy recently never suggested that weâd make aggressive decisions anytime soon.
We didnât even sack Worsfold. We kept him around until his contract ran out.
Perhaps he has been listening to people around him and completely changed his thoughts on how the game should be played. The team is playing totally different than they were during the horror period. If he has listened to advice and taken it on board then that is a credit to him, albeit the fact it took many weeks to do so.
Itâs hard to know as i donât attend live these days, but is it a style with actual substance or the old âjust go out there and have funâ again? which the Essendon playing group love once the season is cooked.
King said on first crack itâs usual Essendon, exciting to watch but wouldnât stack up in finals this run off half back, which has me a bit concerned itâs just following the same pattern of years past but hopefully not.
King must have missed the 3rd qrt where Suns couldnât get it passed half way
Was our best defensive effort by a country mile
Kings not really doing analysis as heâs been burnt by Essendon for like 5 years straight. His comments about us winning flags for the last 5 years shouldâve ended his career.
I think the team is playing with a lot more cohesion and pressure. Itâs disappointing that the pressure wasnât there earlier in the year but the cohesion was always going to take time. It will be interesting to see how Rutten goes about the off season and getting the lads fired up for the first half of the season.
I think itâs a bit more fundamental change than the old run and go off half back, observations from the couch:
Overall pressure is up: seen as tackles, smothers, shepherding (yes, itâs back) and spoils
We are coming towards the player with the ball, not zoning off.
We are generally more aggressive at the contest
Centre bounce work seems better and more clearances
Forward line has some structure, not just a reliance on 2MP
Players seem to know what to do and are doing it. Less confusion.
Additions of Zerk, and Harry have helped.
This week is a real test.
