Ben Rutten - Back to the grindstone (Part 2)

Which is why we as a member base must instigate something and spill the bastards.

I think you’ve touched on the tricky knot of the problem.

Shuffling coaches, players, and admin officials won’t change much until whatever cultural issue that infects the club and has been slowly eroding it since Jackson’s time is dealt with.

No, if nothing else he would straighten out the football department and have the players believe in something. We have to try.

We already let the likes of Hardwick and Goodwin slip through our fingers. The club is a bloody rabble top down.

If clarko came and it didn’t work out, he’d at least have the balls to publicly talk about how ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  the board and the club is.

At least Hawthorn are out of the market for Clarko

This is the biggeat issue. It has happened with multiple coaches. It can’t always be the coaches fault. A coach can come in and demand certain things, set demand certain standards etc but if they aren’t supported by the board then what’s the point?
The players know that if they don’t like it, they can go and complain and the coaches pull back. God forbid we get angry or demand non negotiables

We need to stop poaching other staff from clubs, trying to bring in gameplans that don’t work for our personnel. It’s got us nowhere so far.

What we need is a highly credentialed coach from outside, who can see the strengths and weaknesses of our list, create a unique gameplan for said list based on this, and in turn, recruit and draft additional players that fill a need to suit our gameplan.

I don’t think he’s a guy worried about legacy. He loves to coach and would see a list to work with with us.

He’s over in the states looking at NBA teams and processes, he loves the craft. I don’t reckon he’d say never to anyone.

Like many others, I thought once Rutten was in charge full-time we’d improve. In 2022, we’re served this rubbish on a weekly basis. Maybe it’s time for another ā€˜review’, or maybe it’s time for a new coach and new support staff!

And not only that but we even have our coaches out of position as well as drafting players that don’t fill the gaps.

Gia wasn’t a defensive coach at Bulldogs was he?

It’s Clarkson. We are desperate for Clarkson. Anyone suggesting otherwise is being blinded by their distain for hawthorn.

Uncompromising and an absolute student of coaching as an art form. He’s been over in the US working on his craft.

If he’s up for it, bring him in.

Just woke up, is he gone yet? What about now?……now?

There’s some legitimate candidates out there, Al Clarkson, Ross The Boss and Buckley

Sadly we as a club don’t have the balls to make it happen.

And this is the difference between Clarkson and Malthouse when people say it will be Carlton/Malthouse MrkII. Clarko is out about everywhere refining his craft and learning more. Malthouse was just cranky, and just wanted to coach out of spite for what the Pies did to him.

He’s a genius and the greatest coach of the modern era, ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  madness that people don’t want him

I can’t remember about Gia. But outside of just the Essendon structure, I’ve always thought it strange how a player who played forward their whole career suddenly is a backline coach (for example). Seems to be the way at a lot of clubs and I’ve always found it odd.

I want Clarkson but he and club needs to come in and be honest with us from the start that the entire playing list and club is a gigantic sh-t show and theres no instant remedy, its going to be a slog to get back up to AFL standard.

I would atleast trust his opinion, right now I dont have faith in anyone at the club from Brasher to Rutten.

For sure.
Imagine the legacy he would leave pulling a club like the Bombers out of the shitshow of the last 20 years.
A messiah.
GOAT.
I reckon a challenge like that just might appeal to him.

This club doesn’t have the balls to have someone like Clarkson at the helm, he’ll have people balling their eyes out on his first day
