Ben Rutten - Back to the grindstone (Part 2)

I was considering just showing up for the pre game festivities and then buggering off :joy:

If it happens won’t be based on win loss ratio or even performance.

It will be because of the game plan and players not backing it in

Is Kittens still open?

If i was in Melbourne i wouldn’t help myself by going but probably look at half time sneaknout.

Is Robbo linking us to Clarko or Hird in his tackle article?

Can you post the article

I can’t, don’t have access sorry

Some one posted it above

I am at the point I was with MK. I want him sacked and I will be grumpy if they don’t. Ben is done. Unless Ben turns us into flag winner and I am happy to eat my words!

The first things Rutten should have done if he wanted blue collar last year was 1) aim to be the fittest team in the league 2) aim to be the best tackling and pressure team in the league ……everything else we add on later. These two principles should be painted on the walls and driven into the players non stop ……stats, sideways handballs, zones and all of that other stuff is off the list ….fitness and tackling/pressure that’s where it should start. Put the team on notice that if any players’ effort /pressure is down they get dropped

I for one am not worried about the way Rutten coaches. We have plenty to work with in the younger lads. If he can find a way to motivate the older lads and have them lead the way it will go a long way to change the fortunes on game day.

Anyone who wants to sack Rutten has lost it. The last thing this club needs in another head coach. Give him until at least the end of next season before calling for his head. It’s muppets like Mark ROBINSON who start all this talk about sacking coaches and then its disgruntled supporters that give him validation. Would be happy if I didn’t see or ready any of his garbage again.

Out biggest issue at the moment is the contested ball, we turn that around and I can see an instant improvement.

Ummmm wat? Robbo late to the party on this… rutten is a dud. Needs to go.

Id take no coach over rutten. What a stinker.

4 years in charge of defence… 4 years weve had the worst defence in the comp. Enough already.

I understande you’ve had a bit of a bee in your bonnet about Rutten for a while now but FFS we need some stablility. Continuing to change coaches every year or two is not the way we get better. You wanted him gone after round 1, 1 year into his contract. I know you’ll say that he had the steering wheel before that but it takes time to impliment game plans and with the amount of younger players it will take even longer. Fair chance he may need to work on the game plan to suit the cattle but bringing in another coach will not fix the issue.

You can’t be serious?

There’s zero semblance of a game plan and he’s clearly lost the playing group.

What’s equally as concerning is that he can’t even articulate what the issues are. Every week he’s completely dumbfounded and blames the contest work.

What could possibly give you confidence he’s the right guy for the job?

We’ve made a mistake. Make the call now and go through a proper fkn process to find a new coach and administration.

Opionions are like assh*les everyone’s got one and this is mine.

Might be a little different to support the club and the coach, I know its not the essendon supporters way but its mine.

I don’t think he has lost the playing group, they’re clearly struggling but I put a lot of it down to the young group.

I’d like to see a lot more from the senior players, Sheil has been terrible, as has Hepp for the most part. We are playing a lot like down hill skiers but I believe it can be turned around quickly with improvements in contested ball and two way running.

But once again its my opionion and I’m well aware that not many on blizt agree.

If i were in charge:

External review- no one connected to Essendon involved in review

I think it would recommend board changes, new CEO, head of footbalk department, recruitment and development and fitness overhaul.

Gameplan- review game plan, is it in line with current winning formulas, can our players implement it. If gameplan is rubbish move on coach. If its players not buying in because it denands too much frim them then the players are moved on.

We got rid of Worsfold because the players didn’t buy in. This time round its Rutten. We keep changing coaches but what we need is a complete clean out of the top first.

There is no evidence to suggest he hasn’t lost the playing group. Its not like 1 or 2 players, its an epidemic in lack of commitment.

There’s very strong evidence of a game plan. We consistently set the field up the same way. It just doesn’t work.
