Someone showing off they know some big words. Guess I kind of respect that in modern journalism.
But just saying three would use less words to convey the exact same meaning.

We are currently at the Dennis Pagan Fark Carlton timeline. Looking for a messiah coach to fix everything. The coach is only one of the many issues that Essendon has and probably the easiest fixed.
Have no problem with Clarkson skipping the process. I think heās done enough to prove his ability. Rutten SHOULD have gone through a stringent process because he was an unknown value.
Most reporting has implied heās done with coaching for now after the way the Carlton coaching scenario went down. In particular itās been said that it was because he was expected to go through the process rather than being handed the job. Thatās hardly the scenario most are calling for.
You could argue the same for Worsfold. Lets not forget that Clarkson had a great list at the Hawks. If anything we should be going after their list manager.
Well Ross will breeze through the EFC process then . Because there is none
The coach is probably the last thing on the list to change right now. Thatās not to say that itās not important to have the right head coach, itās more that there are other people who have been around longer that have bigger question marks over them.
But thatās the point. If Ross is just handed the job thereās no clear air and if the list is as ā ā ā ā as it obviously is, he will still take years to turn over the petulant show ponies and bring in harder, contest driven cattle. Weād be much better off ditching Dodoro for someone with a proven ability to identify these types of players and then if we eliminate the cattle problem and Truck still canāt get the job done, he goes next. But Xavier and Josh Mahoney Oversew these roles and are accountable for who is in these roles and if we get to that point with the cattle issue solved and a foot in Trucks backside as he leaves, those two must be moved off too.
Whoa ⦠the first thing on the list of a club, any football club is to get the head COACH right. Success on the field is everything.
Clarkson and Lyon can see the issues here and I do not believe either of them would touch the coaching job at Essendon with a 40-foot barge pole. Itās a lot more than a coaching job.
He wonāt take years. Heāll take precisely 12 months and we will see the difference. Heās uncompromising and weāve a squad he will absolutely do wonders with. I wish itād be Truck but Iād be talking to Ross as we speak if I was an EFC Director.
Being uncompromising isnāt a strength anymore if you donāt connect with your players first to build their trust⦠You canāt just yell at young blokes to get them to do what you want. Itās not the 1970ās anymore.

Disagree. Too many people look for the coach to fix everything. Any club great you listen too will tell you that the entire club needs to be on the same page. A great recent example is Fark Carlton who brought in and spat out two all time great coaches in Pagan and Malthouse. Everyone knows that these guys can coach, but because the rest of the club was stuffed they both failed miserably. Lets not forget that both those coaches went from positions of power at their former clubs to clearly fighting for power against long term administration members at Carlton. We are in the same boat, we will simply spit out anyone that challenges the power status quo at Essendon.
Uncompromising is not another word for yelling. Its standards and heās amongst the best in instilling a defensive and winning mindset. Itās what we need and need to get back to.
Heās a little older, a little wiser but seems hasnāt lost his taste for a challenge. He knows how to win.
Rutten SHOULD have gone through a stringent process because he was an unknown value.
Unless a club narrows their search to successful ex-head coaches only, they need to accept the uncertainty as to how a young coach will perform if promoted to the top job. But even with ex-premiership coaches there is uncertainty in a different club at a different time.
However, Rutten worked for us for 12 months as a coach. That far exceeds any interview/presentation process that an outside applicant would go through.
12 months working for your employer prior to promotion IS a stringent process and you are as far as possible (for a young coach) a known commodity.

I see a jaded former coach who has a chip
on his shoulder, and whose former club has come on in leaps and bounds since he was sacked.
He was a good coach for a period of time, I wouldnāt assume he would be a good one now, particularly given his more recent history.

Its a pretty ā ā ā ā ā ā ā significant step up from assistant coach to senior coach after 12 months. The real reason Rutten was given the job was due to Essendon fretting that Adelaide would swoop in and take him. Reactionary BS from an inept leadership group.

The question isnāt about whether he knows how to win, itās about whether he knows how to connect with the new generation of footballers to develop trust and connection. Does he know how to make himself vulnerable to them? Does he know how to welcome their vulnerability? Does he know how to build resilience and mental strength?
Without these things, you donāt even get to setting defensive standards or a āwinning mindsetā.
Hear what you say ⦠but what changes in the FC board apart from appointing Voss happened? I may be adrift of those changes but apart from Diesel joining?

Heād make a better Footy GM I reckon. If it was a question of Clarkson or Lyon, Iād be backing Clarkson to have the better grasp of how to build relationships with young players of today.
