Ben Rutten - sacked

Why not ? Two years, 44 games is a long time in the life of an AFL player.

Nikk Cox played 22 games in 2021, great early but went backwards by end of year.
This year managed 5 games, was obvious to everyone that he was injured but he was still played, and eventually broke down.

Archie Perkins played 21 games in 2021. This year has played in 17 and has been consistent, but not really showing improvement. Sure he is young and developing, but has he been used well. Not sure he have used his strengths, and worried that he will end up like Langford.

I’m not fussed about the media, I’m confident Rutten knows his fait.

Could argue that Martin and Durham came in as they are.

Right, so why can’t they communicate that to members? Any other club would have already done so.

I would argue that not providing an update at this point is a gross lack of transperancy.

As long as he does wonderwall I’m OK with it

Plenty of players go backward after good starts - there’s even a phenomenon recognized and named regarding 2nd year blues. They are maturing, other teams work them out, then they need to step up again. I’m not saying your question marks aren’t relevant. There are questions, the next steps are crucial, but I’ve enjoyed watching their development. ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  Rowell was Gary Albert after 5 games - he’s done ā– ā– ā– ā–  all since, partly through injury, partly lack of dynamics and stepping to the next level.

I’m also saying, of all Essendon coaches since Sheeds went whacky, Rutten has been willing to play the kids, and or speak of development. He knows we have 1 of 2 of the youngest lists, he’s embraced it. The media haven’t. And very few of us have coz it’s considered l a continuation of what went before, so now he’s to blame rather than the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  who have actually turned the place into a basket case. IMHO. I think he’s had the guts to approach things differently - he just doesn’t have the demeanor or runs on the board to be backed in - so he becomes another scapegoat.

they both seem to share a lack of urgency on the field at times.

Locked down? Or planning their end of season trip?

You would be happy to hire a coach with an exit clause because his hearts set on Tasmania?

I think you’re being a bit dramatic. It won’t be anything like when Norf let go of Boomer, Dal Santo and few others, a combination of more than 1000 games experience, not that we have that much experience anyway.

Probably just Heppell and Hurley. Can’t see him getting rid of Stringer. Who would he kick out apart from players like Ham and McDonagh who will get delisted regardless?

If Clarko wants a clean out I would be fine with that.

But I would think it would happen anyway under Truck. He won’t clear many best 22 rather bring in players and cut guys we already would have flagged as not cutting it at AFL level.

I’d be more interested to see who he brings to the club if given the job.

A bit?

Chanel 10 has a replacement for neighbours if it wants one.

If anything Clarko held onto his vets longer and topped up via free agency and trade.

Looks like Brock Lesnar

He will have a few players that he wants. We are going to need to trade a player or two for more currency.

I think people are over playing the need for CLAKO.

If we dont get him we still need to rid ourselves of the coach, ceo etc anyway.

Not getting CLAKO doesnt mean cutting Rutten loose was a mistake, he and his crew need to go, Sunday was the last straw if the straw hadnt already been broken half a dozen times this year.
