Best 22 - Round 1 2020

Sadly possibly due to his ACL to but Begley has not shown enough to justify remaining on the list

We need to stop kidding ourselves if we really want to be a force with our list.

If we want to close the gap between us and the say top 4 we need a big inside mid who is a bull and another big string KPD as Hurley and Hooker’s bodies are ageing and battered as we saw this year again.

That is the challenge for this draft.

I’m not so absolute on him yet.

He’s only played 16 games and had some injuries.

He can kick goals and does have a nice kick.

Needs to drastically improve next year, but I’m not ruling it out that he can’t do that.

Guys like Snelling are perfect bench players. He’s a contributor. Put him anywhere and he’ll have a crack.

I can’t fault that side, in that I can see what you are going for.

It’s a pretty big move away from what we have been doing.

Where is Ambrose?

any rumours on our round 1 opponent?

FB Francis Ambrose Saad
HB Redman Hurley Gleeson
C Cutler Heppel McKenna
HF Merret Joe Raz
F Tippa Hooker Stringer
R Phillips Parish Sheil

IC Smith, McG, Snelling, Ham

Emergency, Zaka, Langford, Smack

Missing Ambrose and Gleeson for mine.
Ambrose is our shutdown defender, and Gleeson is playing if fit

No Smack?
Snelling ? whilst he tries very hard not so sure he is in our best 22.
We still need an inside hardbodied gun midfielder to be a serious contender as long as Joe D stands up
Adrian Dodoro says he knows this
Lets hope we find one

FB: Francis, Hooker, Saad
HB: McKenna, Hurley, Redman
C: Merrett, McGrath, Smith
HF: Snelling, Daniher, Stringer
FF: Fantasia, McKernan, McDonald-Tipungwuti
FOL: Phillips, Heppell, Shiel

INT: Parish, Cutler, Gleeson, Langford

EMG: Laverde, Ambrose, Stewart, Zaharakis

*subject to change with National Draft, DFA etc upcoming.

With really only the draft coming up to add new players I think you can put a line through this one happening this year unless we find the next Patrick Cripps by some miracle.

…¯_(ツ)_/¯ Isn’t it way too early for this stuff to happen?

Just talking to a guy in the know
No one knows why we did not pursue Bonar or SPP

B: Ambrose - Hooker - Saad
HB: McKenna - Hurley - Redman
C: McGrath - Heppell - Smith
HF: Tippa - McKernan - Stringer
F: Fantasia - Daniher - Snelling
R: Bellchambers - Zerrett - Shiel
INT: Parish - Francis - Cutler - Langford/Zaharakis

My thoughts are he’s an inside mid who is constantly used out of position, and that if allowed to settle as that, and with quickish types around him, then he will be very very good in the role.

He failed in the final. So did hooker and Hurley but at least they had injuries.

I’m leaving smack out to fit hooker, Hurley and Ambrose in.

It’s a very good list. At this stage, I don’t think we can beat WCE in perth or tigers at the MCG. All other games are winnable. That can change in 12 months.

People not rating guelfi best 22?

If all our players are fit and all our players reach our potential then he makes way.

However it almost certain neither of those two conditions will be met and he will end playing more games than not. All clubs need those types of players.
