Surprised we never poached Darren for a development coaching position at some stage over the last 20 years.

He was an excellent coach at TAC level, and it would have made total sense to get him in to coach young players.

Even though it’s not in a recruitment capacity, he coached the eastern ranges. I don’t mind this appointment, let’s see how he goes

What do we have to give up for Koby

I think he’s had good form as a coach and as a talent spotter. I suspect it’s a bit of both but if you’ve got the connections then hell use them!!

Darren Bewick is a highly decorated former coach of the Eastern Ranges in the Coates Talent League (formerly TAC Cup), where he served from 2010 to 2020. During his tenure, he led the team to three grand finals, winning the 2013 premiership. He was named the league’s Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2019, mentoring dozens of AFL players.

  • Eastern Ranges (2010–2020): Guided the club for 11 seasons, achieving a 2013 premiership and developing 38 drafted AFL players.
  • Coaching Style & Achievements: Named TAC/NAB League Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2019.

He also involved in the Rowville Secondary AFL Program which has produced players like: Lachy Dovaston, Xavier Taylor, Cooper Hynes, Christian Moraes, Nick Watson, Caleb Windsor, Lewis Hayes, Connor Macdonald, Tyler Sonsie, Jake Soligo…

probably a future pick we get from GWS or similar this year for Merrett plus our first rounder. Just a guess but think it will be expensive

Could have used Hawks future 1st…..damn, that decision looks even worse.

Whats amazing to me is we have a James Hird thread and it get masses of posts every time there is any news of the guy doing anything but Darren Bewick coming back to Essendon which is amazing news and its pretty quiet in here.

Only for all of his Bomber career.
